18/7 is bad if he shoots 38%. If it's 18/7 on 48% shooting and less than 3 turnovers a game. That's an all-star easily if the team has a decent record.

As an innocent observer, if I was the Knicks, I would be calling teams that have expiring contracts like Rip Hamilton and ask if they would be willing to work a deal in January on a S&T for Lin.

There are plenty of teams out there that would take that Houston contract because of how desperate they are for a point guard. You could easily stash Lin for a couple months and then trade him for at least an expiring deal and a future first rounder. Just look at what the Raptors gave up to get Lowry who is not as good as Lin.

IMO you do not give up an asset that won't cost you the tax money for two years. Lin will always be tradeable in some form or fashion.

Agreed. 3 years 25 million is not a contract that goes to a "great" player though. Didn't Kris Humphries just get 2 years 28 million?

C'mon, shpati...you're better than this.

Doc has been suspended many times before. He's on edge.

He does nothing but speaks his truth. Lot of people just do not share his opinions.

And I have never seen a "suspended" near Doc's name tbh.

He trolls the board. And, as a mod, I can look up suspension/ban history...among other things.

"I think the kid was the great. The system helped him be really great," Brown said of Lin. "It's a wonderful story. But I look at him as a terrific backup in the NBA. I may be wrong, I really want him to be successful but I think if you overpay him for the interest that he created that's not the best thing.

"I think you overpay him if you think he's going to make you better, going to make Stoudemire better, going to make Carmelo better, going to make Tyson better….then pay him as much as you can."

System player.

See ya Jeremy.

That's Larry Brown. He hates Dolan more than anyone but he is right about Lin.

Jeremy spoken.

----isn't larry brown also good friends with Mike Woodson? Trust me Woodson had a hand in this decision. If he wanted Lin back bad enough Lin would have been back.

They didn't match Lin's offer sheet ? I guess Dolan stole my blueprint for greatness. I still have the billboard if Jimmy needs it...

I've had that same thought as well. It seems obvious to me that Lin did not want to be a Knick. Felton loves NY and was heartbroken when the Knicks traded him in that Melo trade but he's back now and i'll be rooting for him.

People like to ignore the fact that Lin had a say in this all as well. He wasn't blindly forced into anything. If he wanted money, and Knicks, he could have figured something out. It's just easier to believe that innocent do-no-wrong Lin was simply "doing what they told him" and that he "fully expected the Knicks to match" yada yada.

If you are trading it for Rip Hamilton it's not an asset.

One of my first thoughts after reading Beck's tweet was how Proky would match it.

Why would he want to be here? His teammates are jealous of him--and have admitted that in public--his coach doesn't believe in his talent, and his whole job here would just to be get the ball to Melo in isolation and let him chuck. In Houston he gets to be the No. 1 option on a young team under ownership and a GM that believes in his talent and maybe get to play with Dwight Howard.

That makes too much sense for this joke of an organization and half it's fans. :(

The final decision to match is Dolan's. Doesn't matter whether or not Lin handled everything properly. Dolan still needs to match.

Was Lin really the answer to a championship? No! He's a average PG.. Felton was playing great prior to being traded. I think the Knicks have a better chance with him.

Eh, the thing with this whole "asset" is argument, is that Lin is still a question mark. If he comes out the gate poorly, IDK that anyone trades for him. That's a big gamble for Dolan to take. Thing is, Dolan has never shown that he cares about spending, which is why I don't think this was about the money, and why it pisses me off. If we were the Hornets, Bucks, or Pacers, I would understand.

Felton's numbers were deceiving. There is no argument for the Knicks being better without him...you don't want to fight a losing battle against every Knicks poster.

Lin wasn't average last year. He played at an all-star level.

Of course he would, because he cares about winning more than anything. He's paying for a starting lineup this year where every player is making $10 million or more. Wish he was the Knicks owner.
