How do you know he doesn't want to play for the Knicks? Another baseless post.

Because he went where the money is over the Knicks? Why the ef would he sign a contract with the Rockets if he wanted the be back at all costs... It's easy to say "he probably thought the knicks would match anything!!" but no one knows that - and he didn't sign a contract without committing to the idea of playing on that team.

Get over it. He wanted the money. Maybe if all things are equal and he was getting paid in both cities he'd want NY because it'd help himself get paid more in a bigger market.

He signed a contract with the Houston Rockets. That's how.

Do any of you understand that the Rockets changed the deal so they can make it difficult for the Knicks to match? What's so hard to understand this concept? The Knicks were saying we'd match the contract publicly and then the Rockets went ahead and changed the terms of the deal to make it harder for the Knicks. This is not Lin's call. Lin didn't negotiate behind anyone's back. The Knicks never made an offer to Lin and chased other point guards. The Rockets wanted Lin badly. They set up the contract in a way to make it difficult for the Knicks to match it due to the luxury tax. This has nothing to do with Jeremy Lin demanding more money. Lin signed the final contract that was presented to him. That's the contract the Rockets wanted him to sign. He signed it. The Knicks have paid $120 million for Isiah's lottery teams but felt letting a young talent go for one year of luxury tax payments was a good decision. That's on them, not Lin.

I will believe in his loyalty when he gets a great offer and denies it to return to NY. He is getting paid very little next year but next year he is going to get a huge payday.

the way Lin sucks up to Yao and how he asked Houston to increase the offer so the knicks wouldnt match is so obvious. The people that cant see that are blinded by their anger

This is not only an angry post. I'm quite serious. This puts a hex on the franchise. Dolan is a curse and this is his legacy statement. It will never be forgotten.

I understand but I'm not that disappointed. I've been against the direction of the team for the past 18 months and evern since Donnie Walsh was forced out I knew Dolan was slowly derailing the team. I've known for a long time Dolan was the worst owner in the NBA but 18 months ago I finally came to terms with the fact the Knicks would probably not win a championship on Dolan's watch.

For me it's just another blunder. I wanted us to match Lin's offer sheet but the problem goes way beyond Lin. I could understand no matching Lin if the team still had flexibility to acquire a better player down the line via free agency or trade or nba draft. It's just history repeating itself : no draft picks, youth for veterans, expiring contracts for longer contracts, capped out, no flexibility and no plan. The Knicks never learn from their past mistakes. It's insane to have such a high payroll and so little flexibility for a team that only won one playoff game the past two seasons and little room for improvement with only veterans. At best only Melo can become a better player and MVP candidate, Amare, Tyson, Kidd, Camby and the rest can only decline. For me the strategy was flawed from the start and I knew the team would run out of gas (ammos to reach the next level).

As always I will root for the team to win but I don't expect much. It's been like that for a long time (with the exception of the 2008-2011 era where I had hope we would finally build the team the right way with competence and patience (instead of trying to make the playoffs at all costs).

Respect. My apologies for anything I said to you in the past about the motives of the team.

just connect the dots. Its common sense that Lin wanted Houston and the reasoning behind it. Just keep posting the same thing though, I have already proven my point.

Connect what does? The dots in your crazy little mind? I think there's too many dots there for them to be connected.

You've proven absolutely no point at all. You are posting straight garbage with no facts.

fore real

I went to many of the Linsanity games last year and several after he went down

it was really lame to see all the Lin fans who were not knick or basketball fans.

though the cute asian girl thing sorta evened everything out

But fake fans have no place in the garden

How do you spot them out? You talk to them? or fake fan = Asian ?

Mr_Perfect, there were reports/rumors Lin was upset with the initial offer before the second one even came out.. That he thought he could get more, but didn't want to risk losing out so he stuck with it... Then he meets with Houston again and they come to a new deal.. It's a negotiation, isn't it? Doesn't Lin and his agent have some sort of say in what the offer is? The idea that he blindly signed w/e was put in front of him and had no say in anything seems silly. He's a harvard guy - they played the business game and got his money.

The narrative that the Knicks are in debt to Lin and must match anything and everything no matter what doesn't hold up for me. He isn't Lebron. If Houston wants to overpay him and he wants to accept the big money a desperate team is willing to throw at him, go for it. Just don't expect to be chased after.

Who knows what JRs thinking is... But he could have gotten much more out there on the market. And he's still a knick. Same can't be said about Lin.

Very true. And not only that... He signed a contract and when he found out the Knicks were planning to match, he asked the other team to rework his contract. Does that really sound like a guy who wants to be here...? Some people just live in their own little world

Stop nop where near now people are comparing Lin to the Babe really...
This board would hype crap if it played for 20 minutes and looked good. What if by miracle Lin is average. Just average 14 and 5 in this system is he worth the money. I get he is a young player but please stop feeding the hype. The world is not going to end if they do not match and I will bet the Knicks will go further in the playoffs then the rockets.
No but if Lin was here guess what he was last yr and declined to play when he had the chance. Please explain that.

Jr with a great opportunity to show his skills this season in a starting role. Looking forward to him hitting some big shots and playing aggressive defense.
