Why Does Orlando Have So Much Trouble Keeping Their Stars

Post#1 » by KING CB4 » Tue Jul 17, 2012 11:48 pm

Shaq, Penny, McGrady, and soon Dwight are all about to leave on bad terms. Whats the deal?

The Heat can cause people to get angry for no reason

Orlando is a boring city? I've only ever been there for Disney, and everytime I've gone, it's struck me as incredibly boring. Tampa is way better, and that's still boring as hell. PEACE.

You know, there is a strange coincidence when it comes to this..

Zo arrives in Miami, the following year, Shaq leaves Orlando.

Wade arrives in Miami, the following year, T-Mac leaves Orlando.

LeBron arrives in Miami, and if Howard is traded this summer, history will repeat itself again.

Strange coincidence.

Well they just can't help being a mediocre franchise. Can you imagine playing for the Magic? Yuck.

Shaq was a douche, Penny had injuries, T-mac had to deal with constant Grant Hill injuries and got tired of losing, Dwight is being a massive douche.

Everyone that has left Orlando has come to regret it and wish they were involved with the team again and they all still live here.

Bad luck?

Eh, I like Orlando, but thats just me. The nightlife sucks, but its still a nice city. There are worse NBA cities to live in, by far. I think it has more to do with the way they seem to run things.

shaq got a better deal money wise in LA,
HOward is surrounded by a horrible team-don't blame him,
I believe Mcgrady didn't want to stay because he was on a bad team (and didn't he leave the year after dwight was drafted?)

as for Penny? i don't know too much about that.

but it's not a surprising trend, it's something that exists all around the nba. Stars don't want to be surrounded or stuck on a mediocre team. whereas shaq like others want to go where they're offered more $.

I believe lakers made the better offer, and magic might've matched it, but shaq wanted out. (it's the, don't play with me-give me what i desrve factor when coming to FAs)

Nightlife is just too spread out between Downtown, UCF, Citywalk and then lots of places strung out around the area.

Shaq wanted to come back at the end, and has always hinted at trying to work with the Magic. Penny is still around here is working with the magic in some capacity. T-Mac has been trying to come back for years, this is his hometown team. You know how to use google.

I dunno. I've briefly been to Orlando and liked it. Didn't spend any time in the downtown area, but I enjoyed the time I spent at the Disney parks and Downtown Disney. Plus they have some good spots for shopping on International Drive.

Penny did not leave on bad terms. Shaq and Dwight are both leaving predominately to go to a bigger market, and the TMac situation was just bad luck with Grant Hill's knee.

When you are not a large market team, you need to be very lucky to keep your stars. Orlando has not been.

My thing with Dwight is the Magic did put a great team around him, a way better team than Lebron ever had in Cleveland. They improved every year he was on the team until the finals and the year after that team was a beast and ran into a terrible matchup against the celtics. He had ONE bad season (first round playoff loss) before he started this whining which is unbelievable. Think about the great players in the league and what they've been through the streaks of losing many have put up with and Dwight does it after one year.

Players like Dirk, Kobe, Nash, Duncan have stuck it out through some rough stretches, much respect to them.

You could have included them in your original post to make your post that much better for the reader. Rather than telling me, "You know how to use google", and looking like a complete ass. :-?

Not trying to be an ass, man. My bad. I think it's the Brooklyn logo, setting off some unconscious hostility in me :)
