No which is why anyone who prefers Bynum over Hou's youth need to realize this. Even if we get one of Josh Smith or Monta Ellis, it wouldn't be enough

So what is the answer then? Anyone have a 5-year plan comparison?

Blow it all up! Build through the draft.First of all, if we do the Houston trade, you get a very good start in rebuilding, as they have promising youngsters who have high potential. And we'll be positioned for more lottery picks, and hope for the best. Yes it's some luck involved, but getting Bynum will just put in mediocritiy. W e have to stay flexible, than after a couple bad seasons, you bring in the player to put you over the top, similar to what we did but hope the FA class top target isn't Rashard Lewis.

The Spurs got Duncan - then drafted Parker and Ginobli with non-lottery picks.
Hasn't everyone been raving about Henny's draft acumen pedigree.

I have total faith that Henny will be able to clear some cap room and draft well if we were to land Bynum.

If this were to happen - it is the first of many moves to follow.

Tim Duncan is one of the greatest players of all-time, BYNUM IS NOT A SUPERSTAR!!! Bynum has had consecutive second round exits, with teammates of Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, are we gonna find better players than those in 16-29? If Bynum is your best player, you're just asking for mediocritiy. Plus they got Tim Duncan with the #1 pick and Ginobili was a once of a life-time thing, you're right peope are raving about Henny's draft pedigree which is why I want draft picks for Dwight!! Not a less talented, injury-prone center that will demand the max!!

I just dont see how that would happen

We wouldnt have anything that would make this a 35-40 team THIS YEAR if we make that trade

I think there's a higher chance that we will suck next year with a squad full of rookies, backups and no stars. Also don't forget that we may have a novice head coach.

If we trade for Bynum I'm going to be the first person to start a "trade Bynum" thread.

One thing to factor in with Bynum is how long it will take to put quality team mates around him to field a contender, and how the potential risk for injury rises with that.

Given his history, he's got a good chance of having a significant injury again at some point. Every season we play with him with a lottery team, waiting to acquire talent, is like playing a practice round of Russian roulette.

And I will be the first to say "IBTL" in the thread before it gets locked.

BTW Listening to Jeff Van Gundy and he is hilarious. His anti-tanking rules are great. I will miss SVG, the apple does not fall too far from the tree.

Nah, that won't solve anything.

If he's with us, he's with us. We should support him.

The only 2 players I have wanted to boo are Duhon and Hedo during the times when they are clearly not trying.
