BREAKING: Report - Knicks Won't Match, Lin to Rockets

I thought I read somewhere in the CBA where a team in the Knicks current salary level can't acquire a sign-and-trade player for more than 3 years.

Here is how it went because you seem to be confused.

1. Houston makes offer to Lin.
2. Lin presents offer to NY.
3. Our front office being the keystone cops that they are told Lin that they will match. Instead of saying nothing until they got an official offer.
4. Lin goes back to Houston and says they are going to match - do you want to up the offer?
5. Houston ups offer.
6. Dolan says FU you sneaky chinaman GTFO.

I'm pissed at what happened at steps, 3, 4, 5 and 6. But don't leave Lin out of the equation. He pulled a fast one.

Understanding it's all speculation anyway, I think anyone think that this was about the money is misguided. The tremendous tonal change when an additional $5mm makes clear to me that MSG--dolan--were pissed and felt betrayed by Lin.

No, that was wrong. There may be a 4th year player option but the first 3 were for 10 million.

I'm not comparing Ewing and Melo in any way other than to say that they're both the best players on their respective teams.

But some of you treated Ewing the exact same way you treat Melo. Unrelenting bashing and bitterness.

It's no wonder Ewing felt like he was never fully respected and chose to gtfo out of NY.

Since when does a player REDO the offer sheet and not a GM... This ish is hilarious.

Most players aren't even around during the contract negotiation, but there is no doubt his agent got them to bump up the offer, which honestly I think the rumored deal was a fake to see where the Knicks stood.

Morey's not as stupid as we think.. he had no choice. He had to make sure he did whatever he could to give him the best shot at landing Lin. The story will come out... we'll know soon enough. I just dont think it's being portrayed accurately... Morey will clear the air.
