Lin has to face the likes Dragic, Nash, Westbrook. Paul, Lawson and Parker next season. Yikes.

He isn't Jordan. He was a half season wonder. He may turn out to be good. He may turn out to be the undrafted, d-league player that he was before linsanity. Regardless, no way he is worth 15 mil for one season.
With or without Lin, I like where the Knicks are going. It has been a while since we had a team we could be proud of. If you are a Knicks fan then support your team. Stop crying over the unknown that is jermey Lin.
that's not my issue... i don't think lin will even become elite. i think his absolute best case scenario is a solid starting PG. with that said, it doesn't make any sense to not match the deal and trade him later. he is an asset. letting him go for nothing is idiotic in my opinion.
i'm not capologist or expert on the new CBA... but unless matching severely hampers the knicks ability to make moves in the future, whether it be dumping amare or trading lin, then i don't see why he won't be matched other than it being a personal thing by dolan which is again, idiotic.
Good point. And to be honest I felt that would make the most sense as well. But ultimately, we don't know if the front office didn't discuss that possibility and then determine that no team would be willing to trade assets to take on that 15 mil cap hit in year 3. Too many unknowns. What if Lin sucks next season? Do you know how fast his linsanity stock will fall? Then the Knicks would be stuck with his contract.
At the end of the day, the front office has to do what's best for the team. And if they felt that the contract would hurt more than help, well then it is what it is.
It would have been nice to at least been able to work a sign and trade with Houston to get something in return.

Since slurs are fine, how I about I just keep saying N I G G E R - or is it only real racism when it's not targeted at Asians?
Racist scumbag? Do you hear yourself?
Trust me, I know EXACTLY what I'm saying. Unlike the racist pieces of **** on this board, I don't need to go "lol I wuz kidding" because I say what I mean. Pathetic.
According to you anyone who against Lin = racist. lolwut
I know you mad Lin is gone, but here's what you should do.
1.) Log out realgm, take a deep breath
2.) Go out on the street ask a BLACK guy if they like Jeremy Lin
3.) If they don't, call him a racist and N***

Not really though. Expiring contracts are valuable, because well, they are expiring. Can clear cap room for a team looking to clear space. Plus, there was a new rule called the stretch provision. Last year of the contract could have been spread out over 3. So the financial impact everyone was worried about would have been minimum. And it's just Dolan's money regardless.
Edit: Financial impact would have been less than what people in the media are saying it would be. Besides, why worry about 3 years from now? You're going to have Lin at 5 million for two years. Worry about the third when it gets there.

it depends i guess. i'm white but had a lot of black friends back in school. i never dropped the n bomb but plenty of white kids said it around black kids with no repercussions. (im speaking of igga not igger obviously)
but a good friend of mine is half black and i say semi racist stuff around him all the time. he knows i'm joking so he doesn't get offended because he understands the context that i'm not trying to be hurtful in what i'm saying.
i agree that lots of people still flip out over certain terms or phrases... all i'm saying is those people are just giving those words/phrases power by reacting so strongly to them. like that one lin fanboy that flipped out for like 10 straight posts dropping the N bomb over and over
