We know the contract changed. The offer was posted everywhere and the Knicks said they were going to match. The offer changed and then Melo called it "ridiculous" and now JR is talking about "loyalty".

I'm not blaming Lin but it's pretty obvious what went down.

This whole thing reminds me of the original decision when I was in Cleveland.

All this reports were coming out (Broussard) that LBJ was going to Miami but none of the fans in cleveland would believe it - stating that the inside sources got it all wrong - that no way in hell LBJ would embarrass the fans on national TV unless he was staying, etc ,etc. When the news finally broke, all the pent up anger unleashed -with people burning Jerseys, the owner going berserk, etc.etc.

I feel the same thing happening here. Face it guys.. you guys know it's over. We need to move on.

And yet many people have made their minds up about what the facts are one way or the other... :-?

Seriously.

You got cats literally jumping on the next one when no one has even came out and said a word.

Hey, you can't even a form one intellectual sentence yet you feel the need to make fun of others. I want to read something a reputable source, not Marc Berman.

Nothing the Knicks do is strange to me anymore. Unless its really really good. I expect the worst of this franchise.

Why would Howard Beck be so sure if their was no facts?? He has sources. I don't think he would stick his neck out like that if this wasn't true.

We really don't even truly know that because an unsigned agreement is still viewed as a negotiation.

Nope. I won't support the owner, franchise and certain players, but I will always support the name on the logo.

I am actually very curious about this. Why follow a team if you dislike everything about it BUT certain players. Are you supporting the players, the state, or what? I'm asking everyone.

Are you saying there wasn't two offers? When Woodson was out there saying we are absolutely going to match wasn't he talking about the four year deal?

What changed that they went from we are going to match and he is the starting point guard to trading for Ray Felton?

Larry Coon and a million members of this board all broke it out how they could have avoided the luxury tax.

It's not about the money.

Again, again, again, what is your post based on? Is it based on anything other than your opinion? Do you have literally even one fact to back up such a baseless post?

What do you mean by "what changed"? Did you the thread I linked you to? It explains everything. What changed was the Knicks were saying they're definitely matching and the Rockets saw that and changed the terms of the deal to make the Knicks think twice about matching. That's the long and short of it. I guess conspiracy theories are cooler, though.

I can't believe there are people clinging like this. Read the writing on the wall. We traded for a PG and put 3 years into him. We signed a backup. We signed a backup to the backup. Beck is very credible and he stands by his sources. LIN IS GONE. DOLAN SCREWED UP. TIME TO MOVE ON.

Beck said the same thing SAS has said: sources privy to the discussion say the front office has decided not to match Lin, although it's not unanimous and Dolan ultimately has the final say.

So it was up to Lin to set his own market value by getting an outside offer. He initially agreed with Houston on a three-year, $19.5 million deal, including a $9.3 million balloon payment in the third year. That deal was agreed to in principle but never signed.

When it became apparent that the Knicks would match, the Rockets — having traded Lowry and lost Dragic — increased the third-year salary to $14.9 million. Because the Knicks are already expected to exceed the tax threshold, Lin’s salary would have cost them tens of millions more under the league’s more punitive new system. When the Rockets bumped Lin’s third-year salary by $5 million, it meant an additional $21.25 million for the Knicks.

Well, that's the thing. I will probably unfollow, but still watch the game/root for the team.

you do realize that Houston is not in the business of negotiating for the Knicks, right? If they really wanted Lin of course they would up an offer that Woodson public stated they would match and Grunny publicly stated would 'likely' match. everyone should've expected it.

Fact: Jeremy Lin is saying 5 hail marys and 10 our fathers with both fingers crossed that NY matches...okay speculation...but still.
