Haven't posted in awhile and I understand a lot of fans are upset over the Lin trade but I remember having arguments with some of you about this scenario and even mid-season last year I believed that despite the amount of talent on this team, Lin & Melo was just never going to mesh on this team and even back then I thought the best thing for Lin and this team was to trade him.

This isn't about money or popularity or player bias, but strictly from a basketball perspective, what both players need in order to be at their best are completely different offensive styles. While this move may not be best for the fans, I certainly feel its best for the players.

The only way this was really going to work is either build the Knicks around a young Lin, which meant purging of 2 massive contracts, and perhaps others as well. Either that, or find a PG that would complement Melo and continue the win now mode. Financially speaking, it just made more sense this way.

I still don't believe if Mello & Amare is a strong enough 1&2 punch to hang with a team like the Heat but with those two on the floor a PG like Lin isn't necessary. I still feel the Knicks are missing one piece to really make this team a Championship caliber team, and that piece is either going to come from Melo & Amare developing unbelievable chemesitry this offseason, and Amare staying healthy.

The biggest blow to the Knicks other than energy was the leadership. Hopefully Melo will step up, embrace that responsibility and become a true leader, now that he is basically the sole king of the team with no one threatening his spot light.

I will continue to follow both Lin and the Knicks, and look forward to see what Lin can do as Rocket where I think he's in the best situation to have a team built around him. As for the rest of you die hard Knicks/Lin fans....cheer up...this is the NBA....whose to say in 3 years, when the Knicks will be forced to re-build anyway that Lin wont come back around once again?

First of all Amare is a shadow of his former self. Plus he benefited by Nash's passes more than jared dudley. Second, melo is a whiny ball dominant player who needs the ball most the time, and run iso's. If he doesn't , he'l sulk and whine or blame the coach. Ruining the teams chemistry. Knicks will suck without LIN. Unless you think Fatton will make superb pick and roll plays with CHandler like Lin does. Fatton is overweight. It might take him first few months of the season to get back to shape, and even then, he's an average pg.

JKidd takes time to adapt to the offense. I remember he struggled in the first few seasons with Dirk's mavs offense. Will take him time to adapt with knicks. And Kidd isnt getting any younger, he fits to the more slow paced game.
