This rumored Cavs-Lakers-Magic deal is sad.

Every other day there is another report out claiming this team or that team has emerged as the front runner. Each and every time these stories have fallen apart. Yes, sooner or later one of them has to be right but considering the deals reported to have been rejected by the Magic how can anyone here take this, of all rumors, seriously?

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if DH is traded to a team nobody's even talking about, LAC, OKC, etc.

Dwight Howard Blockbuster: Cavs to acquire Bynum for Varejao & picks, GM flies back to Cleveland fueling rumors

I just love the way this reads

"Cavs to acquire Bynum for Varejao and picks." On what planet does that have a chance of happening?

Do you see anyone taking these rumors seriously? We are all just debating and flaming them.

The problem with those fake Rockets trade scenarios that surfaced last week out of no facts at all, are that you are are going to whine when any deal isn't as good as them. The deal never existed and the one that is on the table is much worse than you think. Yes, "everyone is on the table" and you can have 1 of them is probably what Houston is saying right now.

How come we were never able to land a superstar for a mediocre at best player (Varejo)?

This is the equivilant of us trading Courtney Lee and Gortat for CP3 :(
I like this team

I wouldn't count out that Cavs trade because Henny seems determined to follow OKC footsteps. He wants to suck for a few years and build his own team from the draft.

Because people rarely want to come to Orlando. Players always want to leave. It's redic. You see how much power Cleveland and Houston gets just from Bynum saying he'd like to play there.

We all know that Houston is supposed to be the team that will help Dwight to LAL and get us picks/young players/cap relief. The Magic didn't like what they were offering atm, so they went out and found another team that can offer the same concept, just so Houston would up their offer. No way Houston nukes their roster and comes out empty from this offseason.

Do you watch any basketball outside of the Magic? I would friggin LOVE Pekovic on our team, and I'd definitely take him over Williams at this stage in their careers. Maybe one day Williams manages to establish himself as a PF or SF, but right now he's neither one thing nor the other and he's going to struggle because of it.

Yeah and not impressed!!! I rather have the Polish Hammer to a max contract than Pekovic.

Lol agreed.

Up to this point, I haven't been a proponent of the "Let Howard Walk" camp, but I'm starting to lean that way. If the Clevland trash and the watered down Houston deal are the best we can do...let him walk and take the cap space. Maybe he'll sit out and we can tank too. We get a lottery pick and 20 mill cap space. Then next summer Turk and Duhon become trade assets.

so you would rather get nothing and keep your bad contracts rather than get multiple picks and get rid of your bad contracts?

I know I'm not a GM but I do not want this deal at all. AT ALL . But if this happens, I'tll be that much harder to be a magic fan. I've been through two rebuilds.... don't know if I can take another.

From that Ric Bucher article:

Cavaliers GM Chris Grant was in Las Vegas watching summer-league action but made an unplanned return to Cleveland, sources say, and is not expected to return. In the frenzy of anticipating if, when and where Howard might be dealt, such otherwise innocuous events have been enough to inspire massive speculation that a deal is near.

Depends how many contracts and how many picks and the quality of the picks. Late round picks are just 2nd round picks with guaranteed salary.

Two championship runs, two finals appearances, two rebuilds. Maybe the next one is the time we get the ring. We should be at least thankful we've been to the finals, many teams haven't. Many teams never rebuild fully, others sit in mediocrity forever.

Third times the charm? Ahhh I just didn't want to fall behind Miami (In Rings) but we are down 2-0!
