Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.XL Off-Season Edition)
I guess we could speculate that Orlando has not traded with Houston because they want Donatas and we've got to wait until August 3rd or whenever to get him in the trade. That's a long time for Houston not to sign their other rookies.

For Dwight Howard they will.
If they can build around a core of Lin, Asik, Parsons, one of Jones/White, & Dwight that is a serious contender in West. They will give up Montejunas.
The Magic are the ones taking the big risk in dealing a proven commodity for a couple of guys who's only experience amounts to 4 games in Summer League.
No they won't. They may want Howard but they do have to get him. They have set themselves up for two paths, either rebuild with the young cheap talent or trade for Dwight. If the asking price is just to high they can just walk away. Also Motie is untouchable which why he was the only rookie to be signed

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.XL Off-Season Edition)
We just need to do Houston
Hardline starting negotiations for me would be:
You must take: Jason Richardson (5.8,6.2,6.6mill), Quentin Richardson (2.6,2.8) and Chris Duhon (3.3,1.5*) w/Dwight Howard. You must give: Toronto's 1st, Houston 1st, SG Jeremey Lamb, SG Kevin Martin and two young vets (SF Marcus Morris, PF Patrick Patterson or SF Chandler Parsons (HOU CHOICE).
Then the Closer:
You must either give up one additional Rookie or an additional future 1st Rounder (Terrence Jones, Donatas Motiejunas or Royce White)
OR
Take on an additional contract from Orlando (Hedo: 11.82 & 6.0* million) or (Glen Davis: 6.4, 6.4, 6.6mill)
This would get a deal done from me.

Correction: For a newly signed Dwight Howard they will.
Based on everything Dwight Howard has said, it is hard to imagine him accepting a sign and trade deal to Houston. With Jeremy Lin coming in it is easier to imagine than it was a few days ago. But I am not sold on the greatness of Jeremy Lin and I doubt Dwight is ready to invest his next 5 years on Lin either.
What are Dwight's options next season when he hits the open market? Who has the means to sign him?
At the moment it looks like Atlanta and no one else. And the only reason he would sign there is if they could pair him up with JSmoove and CP3. The only way for that to happen is if they all take a significant pay-cut.
The Rockets should feel confident in their ability to re-sign him.

lol wut
Really??
Magic wouldn't be trading a proven commodity.
They are trading an expiring contract of a malcontent coming off back surgery who may or may not bolt in the offseason. Having Dwight on your team is "the risk"
By trading Dwight, the magic would be taking the risk averse route.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.XL Off-Season Edition)
If we were able to clear enough cap space with trade with houston that we would be able to sign a max player next year, does anyone think henny would do it without getting back lamb because he would hope to sign Harden, who he scouted and help draft?
Like lets say we waited a couple weeks to trade dwight and were able to get back Montejunas/one of the rookies, parson and say a vet like Martin along with a draft pick, would that be enough for henny if he though that he could sign harden next year?

I think the Rockets would easily say no. They just traded places with the Magic have little to no assets for any further moves.

That's still asking for too much, imo. Way too much.
We have to remember that HOU is doing this trade with the hopes that he'll extend with them, but without a guarantee, they won't give up the house.
Henny is apparently in love with Lamb, so I'm assuming he would have to be in the deal for starters.
Between Jones and White, I think HOU would give up 1 of them, not both.
We don't need Patterson or Morris since we have Nicholson, so I don't think they need to even be in the trade.
I think HOU is reluctant to give up Parsons and KMart too, but I think between that, one of them would have to be included. I'd lean towards KMart so we can spin him into another trade for possibly a PG.
We also won't get both TOR and HOU 1st round picks. Probably just 1 of them.
And they won't take all of our bad contracts.
Kevin Martin
Jeremy Lamb
Terrence Jones
TOR 1st rounder
for
Dwight Howard
Jason Richardson
Glen Davis
IMO, that's a fair deal that works for both parties.

lol please. Dwight is the 2nd best player in the league. It is only a risk for you because he could bolt in the offseason, that doesn't mean he isn't a proven commodity.

I fail to see how one has to do with the other as all the rookies will be signed eventually anyways. I highly doubt the Rockets brass signed him and only him because they deemed him untouchable before he even played his first SL game. It probably had more to do with him being a 2011 draftee.
I agree with the other part of your statement though. If they feel the price is too high they'll walk away. But if they can make it out of this deal with enough chips (Lin, Asik, Howard, Parsons, Jones/White) to be a serious contender in the West I think they bite.

I don't think Dwight wants to go to Atlanta and try to live his lifestyle under the noses of his parents. I think Houston, with Bird Rights, should definitely feel confident in their ability to re-sign him.

If we are going to get technical, I would hardly call a used condom a proven commodity...
First off, you don't know right away that it did its job. Second, those things break more often than you would like. Lastly, if pregnancy is all you are worried about then how do you know the condom did anything? It could just be that your swimmers are more of the bronze medal class...

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.XL Off-Season Edition)
LarsV8; I understand what you're saying in that dealing Dwight is the risk averse move for the Magic.
I meant to say that between the Magic and Rockets, the majority of risk lies with Orlando.
Sure there's a risk that Dwight bolts next summer, but the only real threat at this point is Atlanta. That would mean he takes a pay cut to play on a less talented roster in a smaller market.

Just a few highlights:
- The Bulls notified Morey that they won't match Asik
- Asik/Lin won't effect HOU puruit of D12
- Hennigen is looking to rebuild. Doesn't want Bynums contract or anyone's at all. Rebuild the way OKC did. Picks and picks... He doesnt want to be good in year 1, 2, or even 3. Just get pieces each and every year.
- Jordan Hill hasn't signed with the Lakers neither has Ebanks. Both told they could be in S&T. Orlando likes both in a possible 3 team deal.
- Magic want cheap, young prospects
- ORL loves the pieces the Rockets have. In love with Lamb.
- HOU likes Bynum
You can take a read for yourself if interested.
Wonderful...
If that's true... Who's going to be our new GM in year 4?
