Re: Waiters?
Dion Waiters is shooting 30 percent from the floor entering Thursday’s summer league game against the Timberwolves and has struggled at times defensively.
“The biggest thing with him is conditioning,” Scott said. “Once he gets in shape, all the other stuff will start to come.”
Scott believes Waiters needs to drop about 10 pounds as well as work on his defensive technique.
“He’s so used to zone [defense] the last couple of seasons that he stands around a lot on the defensive end,” Scott said. “We have to get him out of that. He has a ways to go in that
Reading this story I want to know what do Cavs think of Dion Waiters so far? And his health and do you regret drafting him? And would you guys would of like to had move up to second pick to draft Bradley Beal?

You Shouldn't Play For Money, But You Should Play Because You Have A Passion For It -- Bradley Beal

I do not regret grant drafting waiters, Grant had several interviews where he simply said he scouted Dion for a full year. However i always had Michael Kidd-Gilchrist above Dion in my mock, and the Cavaliers wanted mkg or Beal at 2 but the cats were asking for too much just to move up.

Who gives a **** if he scouted him for a full year? That adds nothing to the conversation, except to infer that Chris Grant can't miss on this pick given the amount of scouting time he put into it. Just another typical homer response. As if Chris Grant has a perfect track record and there are rarely ever busts in the NBA.
Read this very slowly: It's okay to have doubts that a player my team drafted MIGHT not be successful.

Except there aren't. You "won't even bother on arguing" because you don't have anything to substantiate that comment. Basically, anything negative (whether constructive or not) = knee jerk reactions to homers.
Seriously, please point out any knee jerk reactions in my post. If you don't think showing up overweight and out of shape as a 20 year old, undersized wing is a slightly negative indicator, then we just have different perceptions. You're acting as if I said "ah man, he came in 10 pounds overweight and played bad for three games, he's going to suck for sure! lulz".
Note: I'm on the record being skeptical of this pick from the very beginning mainly due to fit (i.e. not only after three Summer League games). I've always said he has potential to be good, but that there's a high probability he might not to live up to his potential given a number of factors I've already mentioned (in addition to character/attitude issues that have already been documented in his career).

Just because i don't rage like a child, nor do i call for a lynch mob for grants head when ever i don't get what i want doesn't mean I'm a homer. And the reason why i don't want to argue is because it's useless i have my opinions and you have yours. There's a difference from constructive criticism and just bit*hing constantly, It's tiresome...just let it go and move on

How I relate to any of that (raging like a child, calling for Grant's head, b1tching constantly) is beyond me.
The fact that YOU don't regret the pick simply because GRANT spent a year scouting him is the perfect definition of homer.
Again, read this very slowly: It's okay to have doubts that a player my team drafted MIGHT not be successful.

Re: Waiters?
BTW is anyone else not at all surprised by exactly what Scott said? He probably said the exact thing last year about Irving last year. The two things we all know about just about all rookies is that they need work on their defense and nobody is in good enough shape for coach Scott

Yet again I have my own opinion on the pick and you have yours, Let it go and stop reaching for a argument. I don't understand why you have a problem with me waiting before i judge Dion Waiters, I'm sure there are guys on this site that share your views but sorry to say I'm not one of them. DEAL WITH IT & LET IT GO

Bobcats fan here. I think Barnes would have been a much better pick, but hopefully Waiters works out for you guys.

You're right I think Scott would and does say that about every rookie - its always about conditioning and defense.
I also think both comments are legitimate with Waiters too though. Especially defensively where he just hasn't learned what to do yet.

I merged the topics.
Next time take a look about 3 threads down to see if there is already a similar, or in this case, exact same thread open.
Thanks!

So I just read about 5 pages of Dion talk. I don't think there's anything wrong with what Gordito says. NOTHING is wrong with not liking your franchises draft choice, simple. With that said I'm not a huge fan of Waiters either. Huge reach at 4 imo. I remember when I saw the rumors night b4 the draft. I was hoping you guys would reach for him at 4 ( reminiscent of 2011). Waiters excels at driving and getting his own shot. But he doesn't look very good at it atm. Moral is don't write him off just yet. Very early. But he looks very underwhelming and very undersized for a 2 guard.

Exactly what I was thinking. Not so much Barnes.. More so Lamb. Your Rebuild could of been done or very soon.
Irving/Lamb/Jonas?

Raptors probably should have taken Andre Iguodala over Rafael Araujo... and then taken Bynum over Villenueva, and then Aldridge over Bargnani...
Then you'd have Iguodala, Aldridge, and Bynum. Oh geez... what happened?

I love the pining for guys who haven't played a single NBA game.
Waiters will be fine. He played well against PHX, his outside shot is just off right now. Grant had very similar criticisms of Kyrie last year.

Captain hindsight strikes again. This time with reality.
