Dwight Howard trade game

Post#1 » by Neon1 » Wed Jul 18, 2012 7:57 pm

Hey ORL fan here, just for a fun game, if you were the GM and you wanted Howard,

Hardline starting negotiations for me would be:

You must take: Jason Richardson (5.8,6.2,6.6mill), Quentin Richardson (2.6,2.8) and Chris Duhon (3.3,1.5*) w/Dwight Howard. You must give up: Toronto's 1st, Houston 2013 1st, SG Jeremey Lamb, SG Kevin Martin

Secondary requirement:
Choose ONE young vet to pull OFF the table (SF Marcus Morris, PF Patrick Patterson or SF Chandler Parsons (HOU CHOICE), the remaining two would go to Orlando.

Then to CLOSE the deal:
You must decide if you would rather give up one additional Rookie or additional future 1st Rounder OR Take back a additional bad contract instead. If you refuse all of those options, you can throw-in the 3rd young vet from above

(Third young vet or Terrence Jones or Royce White or 2015 1st Rounder)
OR
Take on an additional contract from Orlando (Hedo: 11.82 & 6.0* million) or (Glen Davis: 6.4, 6.4, 6.6mill)leaving all the rookies (minus Lamb) on your roster

Too much for a rental, you guys can have fun with Varejao.

I think the Rockets would easily say no. They just traded places with the Magic have little to no assets for any further moves.

Not much of a "game" when the Rockets lose no matter what. They'd unquestionably walk away given these terms.

the "close the deal" part of the trade is where I would refuse the deal... too much for a rental but I'm cool with the rest even thought I REALLY don't want to lose j.lamb. BTW Motie can't be traded....

I changed the post to remove D-Mo, and it looks like they removed the 4 votes (all were for Hang up).

I modified the options to be able to throw-in the leftover remaining "Young vet" from the secondary option of (Parsons,Morris and Patterson). This way if you dont accept a second rook being part of the deal OR adding an extra salary you can choose to add all three of them or still decide to hang up.

Still hang up because they will be giving a second 2012 draftee or take in Hedo or Big Baby. Just let and the Lakers Cav Magic three way happen.

No D-Mo, Parsons or Lamb. Preferably not taking on anybody other than Jason Richardson. Definitely not Hedo.

Raps pick, Mavs pick, Kevin Martin, Terrence Jones, Marcus Morris, Livingston, some young minimum players like Greg Smith and maybe one more asset like Patterson or a future lottery protected 1st.

This except take out Terrence Jones. I want to see what he can become. Im fine with Patterson being part of the deal instead of Jones.

Give Orlando Patterson, Morris, Jones, Raps pick, Mavs pick, KMart, young expiring deals and take back either JRich or Hedo. That Raps pick is a valuable one.

I think Morey will do this though:

Morris, pick one(Patterson or Parsons), pick one (Jones or White), Kmart, Raps pick, Mavs pick, expiring deals while taking back Hedo only.

Make Orlando wait.

The reality is that Howard could be a one-year rental AND we would have to take on bad contracts...and we'd have to give away our most valuable 1sts and multiple rookie prospects who have shone so far.

That said, something like K-Mart, Patterson, Morris, Raps pick, Mavs pick for Dwight + Davis + J-Rich would be great.

Good thread idea.

But the if I'm the GM, this conversation ends with "Eat a ****." It was a "maybe eat a ****" up until the Close portion of the deal, then it became a definite "Eat a ****"...

I think we are all crazy serious fans here. We haven't been in the playoffs for three years, we haven't gotten past the first round in 4 years before that before that. I think the thing is that the ship has sailed for Orlando and the Rockets, for the most part. If Cleveland wants to help out the Lakers, so be it. I like our youth and the nice thing about youth is that it gives management time to think about the future.

If our rookies get good and Dwight wants to win, we can work out a sign and trade then. Dwight gets his bird rights and gets mad paid, the bad contracts from Orlando look less intimidating and we will have Toronto's draft picks next year. We'll know which young player is going to get better and a better idea of where their ceilings are going to be at. Instead of dealing with unknown youth, negotiating for fair value is easier since both sides know what the other side is really putting on the table.

Orlando is expecting too much.

Or perhaps more accurately, the thread poster is expecting too much. I do like the concept of the game, though.
