Hope someone picks him up. Really think he can be a solid Forward off the bench, just had an atrocious season.

CLIPPERS WAIVE RYAN GOMES

The Los Angeles Clippers have waived forward Ryan Gomes under the amnesty provision outlined in the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement.

In 32 games played last season, Gomes averaged 2.3 points and 13.3 minutes per game.

Clippers use amnesty to waive Ryan Gomes, will sign Grant Hill

The Clippers have used the NBA’s one-time amnesty provision on small forward Ryan Gomes, said NBA executives who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter. The team did so just before the league’s 8:59 p.m. (PDT) Tuesday deadline.

Gomes will make his entire $4-million salary, but it won’t count against the Clippers’ salary cap and luxury-tax threshold.

That now opens the door for the Clippers to sign free-agent small forward Grant Hill, as the team plans to do with the biannual exception, the NBA executives said.

Hill is expected to sign a two-year deal worth $3.87 million.

Because the Suns were not willing to participate in a sign-and-trade for Hill and Gomes, the Clippers were forced to waive Gomes, said the executives.

Feel sorry for him but strictly for the teams purpose, I'm very happy we did this.

Goodluck to him in the future though, seemed like a great guy.

VDN just had NO confidence in Gomes, I would rather Amnesty him and use the "cap space" on players that will get on the floor.
This is strictly a "Business Move!"

He's a good locker room teammate. He went from the starting small forward to hardly playing in a little over a year. He still remained upbeat and supportive as ever to the rest of the players. I was hoping that he would overcome his struggles and not be a liability on the court, but it just didn't happen. He's still at an age where he could find a spot somewhere in the league and hopefully he would be able to play more 4 than the 3. If not, then he should probably look into becoming an assistant coach of some sort.

Why can't you believe it though? What would you trade for a $4M expiring, if it was Ryan Gomes, lol? It's more like teams would have wanted to trade players with a similar contract amount and takent level, but more years, and the Clippers were not interested.

What else can the expiring of a guy like Gomes get you though? He's only useful if packaged in a deal to get a higher paid player, if the Clippers were willing to take on a longer contract, or if the Clippers gave the other team a draft pick to take him. So in the end, not too useful of an expiring.
