Nothing can stop that now. We're not going to win enough to make fans excited/happy. We will be a little better than mediocre but it won't reverse the torrent of unhappiness that will flood Melo.

And we followed the team when they sucked because we knew that they can only get better at some point.

As for now, I'm not quite sure, in fact i'm know I'm sure we don't have the guys at the top who even want to get better.

I can't remember a time where Dolan even went to Vegas, let alone had his picture taken in all these photos, chilling with JR and whatnot.

Okay, then why you think a great majority of the fan base thinks like you do? There's nothing to suggest that Melo was behind lin's departure, you keep trying to make that connection to suit your own agenda but that doesn't make it so. The pressure will be on Melo to perform, but that's the way it was even with Lin here. If we are winning games and competing for the division that's all that really matters. Not everyone wants to bend over for lin like you.

Okay, then why you think a great majority of the fan base thinks like you do? There's nothing to suggest that Melo was behind lin's departure, you keep trying to make that connection to suit your own agenda but that doesn't make it so. The pressure will be on Melo to perform, but that's the way it was even with Lin here. If we are winning games and competing for the division that's all that really matters. Not everyone wants to bend over for lin like you.

I didn't say he was "behind" Lin's departure, nor do I know that a majority of fans will hate Melo. But at least a very vocal minority will be EXTREMELY salty and he will bear the brunt of their abuse.

No reason to argue about it bro, we'll see in a few months. I think I have a pretty good sense of the mood of the Knick fan base after being a diehard for nearly 30 years -- and it's going to get ugly is my prediction.

Just a prediction but it will soon be the truth. No reason to debate it though. We'll find out won't we. Melo will be the whipping boy, I'm clearly on record.

As far as "competing for the division" ... that's not my goal nor the one of most Knick fans. NYers are not happy with second best.

NY fans are manipulable. Case in point; the way a lot of fans currently resent Lin for 'not playing fair' with Dolan. The media can paint anybody to be a villain, and we know from experience that Melo is one of their favorite targets.

I'm a long time fan too and while I'm not huge fan of dolan I don't see how Lin was in any way the difference between contending and not contending. We are still a better team than last year, period.

It's funny, before Lin got let go this board was filled with people wetting themselves over what an awesome job grunwald was doing....now we don't match lin, a guy who didn't play 1 playoff game, and a guy who was wearing a suit while Melo and Chandler carried us into the playoffs, and all of a sudden we are doomed for failure. You guys need to get your heads examined, straight up.

the only people dumb enough to boo melo are the ones that are brainwashed by the media and especially mike breen. complete tools that can't form an opinion for themselves and need to be told what to think and how to act. melo has nothing to do with lin leaving.

If we are winning games is it going to get ugly? You really think that if we are winning games and on pace to finish as a high seed in the East, the fan base is going to be sitting around stressing about jeremy lin? Unless lin turns out to be a superstar on the level of a Deron Williams or CP3, that won't happen. Lin won't ever even by on Kyrie Irvings level now, let alone those guys.

And like I said Melo is ALREADY the whipping boy. He caught hell all last season for trying to play in D'antoni's garbage system, played injured, dominated at the end to get us into the playoffs, and clowns like you still ride him to death..."become" the whipping boy?
