Knicks will be fine, Lin? Have fun on a lottery team.

To that end, one decades-long season-ticket holder I have known for many years expressed exasperation over Dolan’s unwillingness to do what he has asked of his fans over and over: keep the faith, invest in the potential for success, in this case that of the 23-year-old Lin, albeit without guarantees.

“After sitting there all those years and watching all that horrible basketball, we finally had such a feel-good story that felt like our own,” said the season-ticket holder, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution by a management that has been notoriously contentious. “How many times can they hurt me?”

Her ticket renewals for next season have long been mailed in (with yet another incremental increase of $30 per game ticket). Even with the materialization of the Nets in Brooklyn and the alienation of the large outer borough Asian-American population, she knows the Garden will be packed come opening night. Lin’s replacement, Raymond Felton, will be welcomed back with a hopeful roar.

But on some level the fans will also know that what Dolan asks of his patrons is not necessarily what he demands of himself. He lets Lin walk and tells them to keep writing those painful checks, keep on believing in a franchise that within a handful of months has managed to turn its most alluring episode in more than a decade into a requiem for a point guard.

I haven't spoken to Harvey Araton in over twenty years, but I think I know the season ticket holder who he's talking about in this story, and given how much of her money Dolan gets every season, she's got a right to be pissed.

Lin with absolute bottom of the barrel talent had the team winning... and they don't have bottom of barrel talent nor do they have a bottom of the barrel coach. I'd hold off on that until at least the all star break. They almost made the playoffs last year and one can easily argue that they're more talented then that team they had last year... not more experienced but more talent. Their rookies and Parsons have been lighting the summer league up.

I like their chances next season but there was a complete overhaul and their roster isn't the same : Scola, Camby, Dragic, Lowry, Budinger, Courtney Lee all left the team. It's a pretty young team. As much as I laughed at Kevin McHale when he was the GM of the Wolves and laughed when the Rockets hired him to replace Adelman, McHale proved me wrong and he did a good job in Houston. He can develop young players and he made a bold move when he trusted Parsons to start (instead of first round pick Morris). I even heard they plan to develop Morris at the 3 next season. Lin is exactly the kind of PG McHale wanted. Don't think they will make the playoffs at this point (but they still have cap space and enough draft picks/assets to improve their roster before training camp) but Lin will probably have fun playing basketball in Houston.

From what I've seen in Parsons thus far this summer and the end of last year... I'm pretty sure he's going to be really good. You've got him at the 3 or at the 2... he's a tenaciously defender and an extremely smart basketball player. Then that Motiejunas kid.. if he stays has the chance to be a really good stretch 4.. but he also plays with a lot of toughness. Royce I love.. he's passing ability and ability to play bigger than he really is had me sold on him quickly.. but I think he's ready to contribute right off the bat.

That's the thing the only young guy with a ? mark to me is Jones. And lamb is going to be a good scorer and the prototypical 6th man. What I like (and I liked the draft before the Lin aquisition) is that they're really smart players with tons of upside but poised to be good from day1. And I don't think Morey is done... he's got bring in one more marquee name.

But like you I was never too high on Mchale until last year... I knew he could coach because he had success in Minny when he stepped down from the front office mid season. But last year in my eyes they overachieved.

These are the types of people that can get to Dolan...not us types. Hopefully she does.

I'm sure he will have fun on a team that plays the right way and doesn't have an ungrateful fanbase.

Lin betrayed the Knicks (maybe)

The Knicks betrayed their fans

It always comes down to hurting the fans when it comes to matters with the Knicks
