Re: Jonas Valanciunas Summer Discussion II (Val signs, Pg. 1
Call me crazy, but I think 8 rpg is totally within the realm of possibility for VAL. He probably won't average over 12 ppg because our offensive roles are already set. Gasol was the main offence because Memphis had nobody with seniority over him.
It's all predicated on Jonas' ability to control fouls and his fatigue/health though.

I obviously knew it was going to happen, but just getting confirmation that Jonas signed a contract made me giddy.

by the way, lithuania veteran center (Javtokas) went down with an injury, so Val will most likely start at center and log heavy minutes during the Olympics.

That is my question!
there's a chance he could be a better rebounder in his rookie season. But no way he averages that many points in his rookie season.

8 rpg is possible but his playing time will be limited if he constantly gets into foul trouble.

I hope you right, but I have a bad feeling he will foul out in 1q

I would be absolutely shocked if Jonas gets 8 rpg in his rookie year. I think people need to calm down with the expectations. If you watched Jonas play at all you know that he has a lot of work to do before he can bang around with NBA bigs in the NBA game. He has a ton of potential - a ton - but he still has a way to go on realizing on that potential. Also, Raps have Bargs, Amir, Ed and Gray that will be eating into those minutes - there are only 96 minutes for bigs in an NBA game to spread around. Do the math.

The Olympics are going to bring out the best and the worst in this Raptors board. If he does well, this board explodes with excitement. If he bombs, this board will actually explode.

Very well-put. I know we're all excited, but I hope people keep their expectations in check. Jonas still has a long way to go.

If he struggles during the Olympics the Raptors board will explode that BC should have traded him for D12 while his value was still high. They will call it another example of poor asset management.

I can see him grabbing 8 rebounds too. We else is going to grab them? We know damn well it is not Bargnani. Depends on how many minutes he gets. If he gets 30mpg, I think its possible.

Can't wait to see Jonas in NBA. He and Donut is Lith basketball future.Watched other day Sabonis son's highlights only 16 but he should be stud too.In 5-6 years with them three Lithuania could have strongest frountcourt in Europe.

If he gets 30 mpg I think it's pretty much a lock he averages 8 rebounds. Or at the very least, close to it.

No way he comes in and gets 30 mpg early on in the season. Near the end of the season, I would not be surprised if he beats out Gray for the starters spot, even then I dont think he gets more than 25 mpg.

+1 One bad game by him. People on this board will call him a bust.
