Bobcats are solid at small forward with MKG and Taylor, and Henderson can play there. Brown was extraneous.

Re: Goodbye to Ups?
i am a little surprised at this move. ups was decent, cheap, hard worker, good teammate and could play both forward spots.
does this signal that we are about to make a bid for another players? perhaps landry?

Re: Goodbye to Ups?
Not surprising, as three of our main guys can already play there.
Going to miss him though.

Re: Goodbye to Ups?
I guess we're better off getting a Pf instead of keeping him.
I hope he gets a gig somewhere as well, deserves a chance.

AND he really loved being here.
He started to come along last season too and show a few more tricks in his bag.

this is really disappointing. There's really no call for it, he's better than anyone else we'd get for the money.

Re: Goodbye to Ups?
I say a big thanks to UPS for being one of the interesting guys to follow and pull for. He was always teasing with his ability, could never seem to rise above "moments" of inspired play. But he worked hard!
I thought he was one of the only decent 2nd round picks we ever pulled off. Plus, his nickname was a fun one to adopt.
I do hope we're making room for Landry. I really would hate to miss getting a PF who could potentially start for us (assuming Tyrus still isn't worthy).

Wouldn't be surprised to see a move in the next day or so. However this also could had been a move we needed to make to fit in Sessions and Haywood. UPS had a 3 million dollar cap hold, I believe. We'll see. Also isn't beyond reason that UPS could be back for the minimum. He was a decent player, wouldn't had minded having him back although his position is a bit crowded.

Too bad. He is a really good guy. He always put 100% effort each night. He is also my wife's favorite player. She is gonna be pissed!

I hear surprise Bobcats pulled quali offer on Brown. I'm surprised they made it. Drafted two 3s and Hendo might play there some.

Re: Goodbye to Ups?
Yeah, why didn't Brown take the QO, a long time ago? Its unlikely that he'll get a contract that totals more than the QO?

Yes he was a stiff, but please save the party for when we boot TT's lame ass out the door.

I was hoping we'd just play him at PF, would have been as good as Jamison anyway.

Re: Goodbye to Ups?
If they keep Higgins when they could have kept a quality role player for only 1 million i will be irate.

Quiet as kept, I'm actually looking forward to seeing what Tyrus can do under Dunlap's more uptempo style offense & aggressive defense. I think he may be able to salvage what little bit of a career he have left, maybe even enough to 'dare I say' avoid being amnestied next season.

Hate that, unless we are using the money for some other needed FA. Dont want this just to be a "put money in MJ's pocket move."

Re: Goodbye to Ups?
The guy only had a $1 mil QO, so I'm hoping this is only to create a little extra space to sign somebody else. Otherwise, I just don't see the merit.
Do we hold UPS' Bird Rights (Or perhaps Early Bird Rights?)? I'm not sure how this works now after last month's arbitrator ruling. We waived him a couple seasons ago, but he was claimed by the Knicks and finished out the season. Under the new arbitrator ruling, he should have qualified for the Early Bird exception after two years since he was claimed off waivers before hitting FA. Now, did he lose those rights when he signed the one-year deal with us? This is where it gets confusing to me.
If we do hold his Bird Rights (or Early Bird Rights), then we should be able to exceed the cap to re-sign him. That said, his QO could haven been preventing us from signing another player. Theoretically, if we were to sign someone else, we could then revisit the idea of resigning him then. Either way, I'm sure we could put together a minimum offer to keep him.
He's a solid, cheap player who wants to be here; so I hope we can keep him around in some capacity.
