Tony Mejia: This Howard news affects #Rockets pursuit by solidifying Bynum as someone they can flip a DH rental for by deadline.#Magic seek "best deal.

Why not just get Bynum in a 3 way to save you the trouble

it's hard for Cleveland to let go of Thompson since he showed a lot of upside last season. since Jamison is not there anymore, I believe they'll be sliding him to 4 and Bynum at 5.

as for Waiters, the kid is a prospect and Cleveland is lucky to have multiple top 10 1st rounders and they want to have a combination of that with the incoming Bynum.

Seriously wtf. I mean we've been offering him to Houston in the three-way deal, while take risks otherwise?

Houston front office hasn't made the best decisions this offseason IMO if they really wanted Dwight/Bynum.

Eric Pincus

According to Jarrod Rudolph of RealGM, Dwight Howard has had a change of heart and is now willing to commit long-term to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Howard saga has carried on for months, through last season’s trade-deadline to an extended and ultimately failed effort to get him to the Brooklyn Nets earlier in July.

As options have dwindled, Dwight is now “excited” at the prospect of playing for the Lakers, according to Rudolph’s sources.

Jarrod has apparent close ties to Howard and was the first to break that Howard was not opting out of his contract last season.

Just as the Magic tried to accommodate Dwight in his quest to join the Nets, it’s still up to the Magic to make a deal.

HOOPSWORLD was first to detail three-way talks between the Houston Rockets, Magic and Lakers and then first to report, via Alex Kennedy, of talks between the Cleveland Cavaliers, Magic and Lakers.

Both are viable paths for the Magic should they finally consent to pull the trigger. Orlando has had qualms about taking back center Andrew Bynum as they embark upon the rebuilding process. Andrew is going into the final year of his deal and if he doesn’t want to extend his contract, the Magic are no better off than they would be if they kept Howard.

The Rockets recently acquired point guard Jeremy Lin and are nearing an offer sheet with Chicago big-man Omer Asik. If they get Asik, Houston’s flexibility is diminished but they still have enough young players and picks to help facilitate a deal.

Houston would prefer Howard but if he’s making it clear that if he doesn’t go to Los Angeles, he’ll walk in free agency to Atlanta or Dallas, Bynum may be a more reasonable choice (if he’s open to a long-term commitment with the Rockets).

Equally, Bynum has been linked to the Cavaliers and Kyrie Irving. He may be willing to stay long term in Cleveland and the Cavaliers have cap room and picks to help broker a three-way deal.

How this resolves still isn’t clear. The Magic are the decision-makers. Bynum, if he becomes the centerpiece of a three-way deal, can manipulate the situation to his end.

Ultimately it would be nice for all parties involved to have some kind of resolution – any kind – for a story that has dragged on for most of 2012.

Sam Amico
In Orlando, Lakers source said, Dwight Howard is big deal when just walking down the street. In LA, he might be eating in restaurant with Jack Nicholson in one corner and George Clooney in another. "He could be in movies here," the source said, adding that Howard would also be playing for a team with a huge and passionate fan base. Lakers also topped Forbes magazine's list as NBA's most valuable

I know this board will be in overload if and when this deal is done. Not gonna get overly excited....really not gonna phase me to be real about it. He still won't be able to play for like a month after the season starts.

I still not satisfied with how our bench looks, still filled with flaws. No chips are coming until that's fixed period.

Ultimately it's our billionaire owner; Rich Devos. He has the final say.

Wow... the Lakers are about to land the biggest acquisition since Big Diesel. The rich get richer! lol

You might as well pencil in Lakers vs. Heat in the 2013 NBA Finals right now
