They're mistaken if that was part of their strategy.
I was also wondering what would have happened if some team came around and offered JR $4M a season -- he would have left the Knicks for the higher paycheck, undoubtedly, and then would the Knicks have let Lin go? I know they're not the same position, nor do they fill the same needs. But, if we had lost JR and Fields, we would have been very thin in the backcourt and they might have thought there was no choice but to match Lin.
Same with Felton -- what if he just had been signed or wasn't available?
Instead we're stuck with JR and Felton. Just unbelievable. And JR will get paid by us next off-season for a substantial amount so the Knicks are stuck with these two bums for the foreseeable future. Just unacceptable. Felton and JR will be on bad long-term contracts. Whether he's in the background pulling the strings or not, the ghost of Isiah lives.
And some Knick fans will just say: "oh well, time to move on- I bleed orange and blue"
No F**k the Knicks , Dolan and whoever else made the dumbest "non move" in Knick history. "the Knicks are all in" with who?! Felton?!?! Dumb a** JR, one way Amare?! and I can't lead men and get my head out of my a** Melo?! They really believe they have a chance against Miami? Boy, Pat Riley must be shaking his head boy...They really believe they have a chance against Miami? A team that not only has leaders who play TWO ways- they use their brains! I cut Melo some slack for not telling the Knicks to keep there assets -worst case if Denver is asking for too much- he'll sign as a free agent. Yet, again, he proved his lack of foresight. Foresight that Lebron, Bosh and Wade had to take less and foresight to recognize that if he truly recognized Lin's talent and promise (as he claims)he should have made it clear as the apparent leader of this team that he will be supported and he wanted him here. And CLEARLY he didn't DO THAT with JR behaving like a scumbag! Does anyone remember last year when Melo scolded JR on the court and JR went running to him like that little brother who "didn't do anything wrong" ? He listens to Melo and if Melo would have told him Lin is "with us" you wouldn't see JR act like a reckless scumbag...
The worse thing that happened this off season is the way Lin was treated by those two! they made it CLEAR for me! This is why I wont root for this team until this group and Dolan are GONE!
Excellent points. I'm right there with you.
KG, I'm a very optimistic person. Always smiling, laughing and believing in people. I give people many chances. With that said, I have never been so incensed about a sports situation. When I look at the above picture with Woodson, Dolan, etc... I just cant believe a guy like Dolan is at the helm. I'm mean, I always new Dolan was bad but THIS BAD? I would have bet some good money that Lin would be here. I mean, its clear Dolan is very weak. Somebody got in his ear. Worst case you tell, Woodson, Isiah, or whoever is telling you "Lin and the locker room wont work" --to deal with it. We will trade Lin for value at next years deadline. How on planet earth does a business man let a cash cow go for nothing?! Especially to an organization that continues to get the better end of trades, finals appearances, etc... Did Dolan ever think to himself that "dam the team that had YAO and who CUT Lin is willing to make a huge commitment to Lin- maybe there's something wrong with our think in Knick land?!?!?!?!
