Haywood is better than him right now (unfortunately), and Mullens is a much better PF than he is right now in todays NBA. Biyombo just needs to sit back, relax, get his 20 mpg, and learn. Last season wasn't fair to him.

And contary to popular belief he isnt the next " 6'9 Dwight Howard"

Agree. Haywood will start but I hope Mullens gets plenty of minutes at the 5. His post game and defense seems to be improving in summer league. I am hopeful that Mully is our long term answer at the 5. Biz? I see him as our long term answer off the bench, sort of an energy guy to defend, block shots, rebound, and put back the garbage.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Biyombo can possibly start at PF, but Mullens looks superior as of now. Bismack will be a nice player, but still has a year or two to go.

way to ignore the facts poot. I just told you Bismack got more minutes than Mullens last year. Biz was even less skilled last year. Just give up.

You realize we're not trying to win games and are trying to develop talent right? Biyombo is gonna start. no point in haywood doing it, I think B-Wood is perfectly fine playing the mentor role, hes already won his ring

It infuriates me to no end when someone says a 1 year player who is 19-22 is best served as energy off the bench. the book of their careers have not been written yet. they can still get a lotttt better. its such a pessimistic thing to say.

I think we are getting too caught up in the negatives about Biyombo.

Lets look at the facts..

1. He is still only 19 years old.

2. He is averaging 7 points and 6.3 rebounds in only 20 minutes per game.

3. He has shown much more agression on the boards at times.

4. He looks much more calm with the ball on the block this year thus far. Whether it be slowing down making his move or finding the open player.

5. He has shown a variety of post moves and has gotten good looks or fouled many times.

6. His free throw stroke looks much better and he even coolly knocked down an 15 footer last game.

7. Its summer league the refs feel the need to call twice the amount of fouls and violations then they do during regular season. Everybody is fouling a ton not just Biz.

8. He has defiantly put on some more size and looks much more like a Center prospect this year.

9. I dont care if he starts or not. I just want to see him average over 25 minutes a game.

10. Serge Ibaka is 3 years older then Biz. I think if he keeps improving he will no doubt be just as good as he is now in two years.

He's already way more skilled and talented than Okafor ever was.

He's shown some good signs of life the final two games. Even started blocking some shots again (thank God!!!)

I think because he is so raw is just him some time to get his game legs under him. I'm predicting that he'll be slow at the start of the season but by X-mas he should start showing some great signs.

Been very impressed with his lefty jump hook along with that rolling scoop shot. The more he gets comfortable with them the quicker he will execute them when he catches the ball - which will be key for him. He tends to over think given the time.

Whenever I read something about Biyombo, I can't help but think he's a robot. It's unbelievable a human can have his kind of humbleness, determination, and frankness at 19 years old.

I'm very impresed by how good his english is. This video has probably already been posted, but I'll give you the link anyway: http://www.nba.com/africa/biyombo_at_su ... 07_20.html

His language skills are extraordinary. Same goes with spanish, in a very short time he learnt to speak it fluently and with a surprisingly good accent. Kudos for Biyombo.

Really hope he has a good season, he is a hard worker and trully deserves it!

Most Improved Second-Year Player

Biyombo
Bismack Biyombo, Charlotte Bobcats

Before a Timberwolves home game against the Bobcats last season, I watched the coaching staff work with Biyombo on just catching post-entry passes. He wasn't even making moves after them. He just practiced catching the ball. A few months later, he's scoring on solid post moves, finding cutters down the lane and dominating the boards. Could be a sign of things to come.

Runner-up: Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio Spurs

Love hearing positive feedback on Biz outside of our fanbase - pissed me off hearing opposing announcers and fans labeling him as another bust pick for Jordan last season. This offseason will do wonders for his game.

.. also like the piece in that article on Mully - "I'm not sure who told Mullens he's Dirk Nowitski, but he seemed to believe it"

I dont think Mullens will be shooting like that in the regular season. 15 points a game off 16 shots is flat out terrible.

Agreed. He only shot that much is because SL is a time to try out new things. No way we full court press for 48 minutes a game either. Mullens won't take more than 2 or at most 3 threes a game next year IMO. I hope he works on that shot a lot.

Most likely to play Kenneth Faried in a movie:

Winner-Jae Crowder

Runner up-Kenneth Faried

I hope the only way Mullens takes three threes in a game is if the first two went in for him.
