This is the best thing that could have happened to Jermey Lin....leaving this "Insanity" now without his name...and drama of New York..and Jim Dolan ..and playing with a bunch of Prima-Donnas and jealous Whack jobs that are demanding the ball...and his job is to baby sit them and keep them happy...get real...

Lin will shine and put up nice numbers in Houston.....which will eventually land him another great deal down the line.....he is very generous with his money...and will put it to good causes...smart move leaving Jeremy.....we will be stuck with these Drama queens for quite some time....

AVolumeScorer wrote:Great post, the first sentence get's me irritated the most. BUT I don't think Carmelo deserves alot of the blame here. I don't believe Carmelo was truly jealous of Lin. I don't believe that Carmelo can change JR's dumbass ways[I'll get to him in a bit]. I don't believe that Carmelo was dogging it when MDA was there, I believe he plagued by injury throughout the season. I believe that this year, Carmelo can be a top 5 player in the NBA. With that being said He's below average on defense.

I'm split on Melo, he's not the monster some haters make him out to be and I dislike when he's grouped with that idiot JR Smith.

Melo has some personality issues, he's certainly a primadonna and his actions in forcing the Knicks trade before the new CBA and dogging it because D'antoni tried to make him iso less show he's selfish, but I think he genuinely wants to win and does care. I just think he's obsessed with proving he's in the same league as Lebron to the point where it blinds his judgement.

The same with the way he plays - he's one of the best scorers in the league, possibly the most well rounded scorer in the league with only the older Kobe and Dirk as much of a threat in any part of the court. But he's not a top 5 player in the league for me because I just don't think he's a complete player. He doesn't know how to fit within a team structure, though the Knicks being a poorly put together mess don't help.

He's a great rebounder and passer besides being a scorer but his vision for playmaking is limited, having the ability to pass anywhere only goes so far when you can't do anything without holding onto the ball for 20 seconds every possession. Throughout his career other scorers just seem to get in his way.

He's bad at drawing fouls, which like it or not is a skill in this NBA and as while Lebron, Wade, Kobe, Durant and so on might flop to disgusting degrees, but you can't tell that doesn't make them dangerous. Bully ball is nice and all but there's a reason Melo gets more offensive fouls than other players in his league.

And of course he's a below average defender.

Melo isn't the problem, he's still a top 10 player in the league and alone can bring them to the playoffs, but I just don't think the Melo show will get you beyond that. The problem isn't Melo, but betting the house on Melo with a sidekick that doesn't fit? I just don't see an identity on this team besides giving Melo the ball.

I don't understand how anyone can defend JR

He brings nothing of value to this team besides every 10-15 games when he get's in a streak, he's just terrible. This team is going to turn into the 2012 Jail Blazers without the success

You honestly believe Dolan will waste time getting under the cap again in the next decade? He tried it once, didn't get LeBron and has now given up on that plan.

The Parker-Bradley game company has just updated their classic board game Clue to include the option of Mr. Dolan with the Cigar in the Bathroom.

Carmelo doesn't really seem like the kind of guy who would go behind someone's back to have them removed from the team. I am saying this from his interviews and his demeanor on the court when interacting with Lin. I was really angry at Carmelo a couple of days ago, but this was because I was just upset at everything. I don't think he had any say in this, or really cared one way or another.

Seems more like a Woodson move. Maybe Woodson saw some of our defeats being the result of Lin not deferring more or some other stupid reason. Woodson never seemed to have a lot of confidence in him.

Oh well. We'll never really know what happened.

I don't have a problem with Carmelo (though I don't care for his persona) or Amare. But the two together - it doesn't work.

Is Woodson creative enough to get it to work? I think he's a good coach actually, but he isn't very open-minded. You can't just say you want Amare to work on post moves - can he even do that at his age?

@StevePopper

Landry Fields on MSG with the best line of the Lin departure - "Poison pill? That's a tic tac for James Dolan.

It's clear that this was 100% a personal decision by Dolan that was supported by Melo. If you think about it, the Lin supporters on the team were not as valuable as the Melo and his guys, so pretty much all the Lin supporters got shipped out.

Goran Dragic received $30M over 4 years from Suns. Goran is a nice player with talent -- more natural-looking, smoother skill than Lin perhaps -- but he’s not the winner that Lin is. Dragic is getting $7.5M per season.

So Lin gets less than $1M more per year WITH ONE YEAR LESS on his deal and Lin is a considerably better floor general to lead you into the future. Houston isn’t even overpaying for Lin.

You can't teach the "IT" factor.. Lin has "IT" that was the biggest reason I believe he'll be a very good player. Dragic I don't think has "IT".

Another thing that has really gotten under my skin lately is how dare people use "well we don't know how his body will hold up over an 82 game season" excuse. I didn't hear that about any of the rookies that were drafted this year. It's a form of covert racism that is always going to follow him.

No not the case, lin played for ny and dragic didn't. If dragic was here and he had that run he would have the "it" factor too.

Then why doesn't JR Smith show the it factor?

I fully agree with ibraheim -- Lin is a winner. Knows how to win games. Dragic is a glorified backup as far as his mentality goes. You can teach what Lin brings.

I've watched Dragic play... He's shown me he has "IT" in one game. Lin has showed me he has "IT" in almost every game he's played.
