I wonder how much of a circus Jerry West had to go through to get Shaq back then that set him back health-wise?
THere was no social media back then obviously, and wonder if this would take the same kind of toll on Mitch.

GO LAKERS

I've heard it through the grapevine..NBA gods have already designated Los Angeles LAKERS as NBA Champions in near future. The destiny is real. TRUST ME.

This is crazier, TyCobb just took your own post from a few hours ago... Return of the Oatmeal? :o

"Getting real excited. Havent felt this way since we last won championships after acquring Pau and after acquring Shaq..

I mean, I am just mesmerized by this starting lineup:

KOBE NASH HOWARD GASOL MWP
(and I always considered MWP a star, unlike all the others who wanted him amnestied. why? He's our key stretch defender)

JAMISON
J HILL (please re-sign)
EBANKS (please stay)
J ONEAL ?

Minus J Oneal, we have our shortened 8-man rotation for playoffs and I think is outstanding.
Cant wait for this season. Let's go!!"

This has gone way to public. This isnt the lakers style. I'd be surprised if anything happened.

I hate when this is brought up, I really do. You guys need to understand this isn't 2008 or any other year earlier. Social media is at an all time high, no team including the Lakers can hide from this new era of media.

I want someone to name me the most recent thing that the Lakers have done that hasn't been hinted at through twitter or anything else.

Jacque Vaughn looks like the frontrunner to replace Stan Van Gundy as the next head coach in Orlando. While nothing is concrete yet, Steve Kyler of HoopsWorld tweets that Vaughn appears to be in the lead for the job, while ESPN.com's Ric Bucher tweets that the Spurs assistant is a "good bet" to secure the position.

The Magic figure to make a decision in the near future, and likely won't make any decisions regarding Dwight Howard until hiring a coach, tweets Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld.

Im not sure what a new coach has to do with D.Howard. Unless the coach is going to pick what package to accept.

And that was back in 2008 when social media wasn't as prominent as it is today in 2012. There have been major technological advances since 2008 and everybody's adapted as such, even the media.

And I consider Nash somewhat of a blockbuster trade.

Nash?

Two days before Nash was traded to LA, Marc Stein let the cat out of the bag that LA was interested in acquiring Nash. The following day he said trade talks were dead because Phoenix brass couldn't trade Nash to a long time rival. Then that following day Nash is traded and confirms everything Marc Stein reported about, that a trade between the two teams was initially vetoed then Phoenix had a change of heart and decided what Nash wanted meant more than a rivalry.

Nothing is safe in today's media.

Do I think the lakers can keep all there trades a secret...of course not. But alot of this stuff being reported I dont think is true. We wont find out until the end. But Mitch Kupchak said that 95% of the things that are being said are not true. Social media can make up any kind of story they want to, and they will. What Im saying is Mitch Kupchak doesnt really put the lakers business out in the street.

Of course not all of it can be true because for every piece you find, you'll find another piece that contradicts it. So yeah, half of what you read is wrong. But believe it or not a lot of leaked information comes from individuals within the organization. I'm not saying Mitch has leaked anything and I'm not saying he hasn't either, but no one here works for the organization so you can't say what Mitch has and hasn't done. Usually information gets leaked to try and gain leverage, do you honestly believe Mitch or no one in the Lakers organization has ever leaked information in an attempt to force something?

Ever...of course not. For this trade, no one knows. We have nothing to hide with this trade. We are willing to trade Bynum. Thats not a secret.

I believe the Bynum extension threat came directly from the Lakers.

Right, but thats not something we are bluffing or hiding. If we are not going to get howard then they are going to offer him an extension...even if he turns it down. The Nets did the same thing. Sooner or later the lakers have to move on to finish out their bench and secure there own guys. But I dont find that to be breaking news or something thats leaked to negotiate. Its the truth. Sooner or later lakers will have to mend the relationship with Bynum and you would think that the lakers would want to start doing that sooner than later....assuming we dont get Howard. But this cant go on forever, Lakers have giving plenty of time to let this thing play out.
