Snider pulled from Thursday's game after homering

Post#1 » by dagger » Fri Jul 20, 2012 3:27 am

Snider cued a six run second inning with a homer, and when he came up again in the same inning, he was pulled for a pinch hitter.

Let the rumors begin

Could it be that the Franchise finally gets to show us what he's capable of?

Hopefully AA doesn't treat him like his bastard child anymore..

I think he needs the rest of the year and all of next year, ala Colby Rasmus. Guaranteed starts. No platoon.

We don't even know if it's a call up or trade.. Let's hope its the former so that I don't have to see Rajai friggin Davis toiling out in left field..

There's no room for Snider on the roster unless Lawrie is healthy, in which case we could option Gomes down for him. If Lawrie goes on the DL, then I'd expect Snider to come up immediately.

I would bet it's a trade for a guy like Liriano or a broader & larger deal.

If it isn't a trade it's certainly a weird time for a callup with Gose and Gomes already up. Also, I don't think they would call up Snider unless he is going to be a starter and get the at bats to prove himself one way or another, certainly could be a trade.

and while he hasn't officially been recalled, i don't see how this is related to lawrie's injury

why would that scare either of you. AA isn't gonna deal him to a division rival and the jays are in boston right now, DUH.

anyhow, the timing of this whole thing is peculiar. there's gotta be somethin cookin on the trade front!

Very peculiar Sensi. I sure hope AA isn't making a deal to try and keep this team in the race. As sad as that is to me on the surface, I know in my heart, that with all of our injuries, this year just isn't the right year to take a stab...

Now that it's a call-up (or they're just flying him up there just to screw with him as he watches two inferior OFs start over him again...which wouldn't surprise me the way this has gone), how do they explain waiting until after his first AB to do it? What changed between when the game started and then?

It's funny to imagine management just sitting around watching the Vegas game and deciding to bring up Snider right after he hit another HR. What if he K'd? Mike McCoy instead?

Ben Francisco is currently on the MLB roster and Rajai Davis and Anthony Gose are taking up starting roles. They can make room for Travis Snider if they want to.

Yes if only Snider could pitch.

So if Lawrie goes on the DL we'll see Snider activated' is that the consensus? That's too bad but I guess we'll take what we can out of this.

again, I don't see how lawrie's injury and snider's call-up have anything to do with each other. if lawrie was headed for a DL stint then why would snider even bother playing last night at all? they waited until the 2nd inning to pull him from the game. I doubt lawrie called someone at 11pm EST and gave them an update on his injury. plus, gomes is already called up to be lawrie insurance and there is already 4 OFers on the active roster.

and snider wouldn't be called up to be just a platoon player, one would think. my guess is one of gose or davis has been dealt. maybe I'm just getting my hopes up for a trade but there is definitely something fishy goin on here.
