Every once in a while I pull out some of my albums I have owned since childhood and I blast them on the MASSIVE 800 watt speakers I purchased over at Veneman Music in Rockville years ago.
I was too young too have experienced this music in the clubs back in the day so I was wondering if anybody on here has any interesting stories about Peaches & Herb that they would like to share.

I am random like that.
Herb was also a Bullets fan.
I used to go to Variety Records with my family and my parents would let me choose which album I wanted to buy with their money.

I love the internet. For all intents and purposes, WTA is an old crotchety black guy but he's really just a crotchety young white dude.

No. I dont think you understand. At the store I would usually purchase Kiss, The Carpenters and Michael Jackson. But due to the fact Herb is from DC there was literally no escaping Reunited & Shake Your Groove Thing on local radio. So when I saw the album at the store I just knew I had to buy it .

Peaches & Herb appreciation thread
I gotta hand it to WTA. I had largely avoided the Hipster craze in Miami for a few years. 2008 in New York they weren't a sensation or overrunning downtown NYC. They are **** everywhere now.....not sure I've run into a more annoying "trend" in my lifetime.
Between the orange or bright green plastic glasses, Pabst Blue Ribbons...their desperate attempt to look like a hybrid southern truck driver/anorexic mountain woman. Disdain of all things "corporate", yet over the top love of all Apple and American Apparel products.
I got to the point I began to openly curse at them in Manhattan. Things like "nice orange **** glasses jackass. Great job rolling up your jeans to mid calf loser. Please go back to Kansas."
I have no patience obviously at times, but it is extremely frustrating watching these fools and the OWS movement losers celebrate laziness and spread a socialist vibe out of ignorance.
WTA, while your message is odd and very much misdirected at those on this board.....I understand your pain. Please do what I do, keep scaring them and providing horribly wrong directions to less than nice neighborhoods.
Also currently in Montreal for a few months. I thought this place was hipster invaded as well, turns out this city is actually just infested with a TON of 20 something bums and drug addicts. Odd city, but good escape and nice public bike system.

Me a hipster?
How?
I already wore leisure suits and skinny jeans the 1st time around back in the early/mid 1980s.
I do not randomly steal fashions from times past and wear them in 2012 in an attempt to seek out attention towards myself when I am out in public.
Also. I was born here.
My arrival in DC (as a newborn) did not usher in dramatic rises in the cost of living in less than 10 years for native Washingtonians already living here before I was born. Metrobus and Metrorail fares were not raised 3 times in less than 4 years right after I was born either.
So your connection to me with these disgusting, recent arrival, attention seeking, rent raising, metro fare raising, wanna-be urban, sandal and flip flop wearing transplants is unjustified.

Two thoughts:
1) While Bo Derek has become the iconic image of beaded dreads owing to her appearance in the movie 10, and hence on a famous poster, those "in the know" know that Peaches did it first.
2) While derided as a pop culture joke, the Captain and Tennille are still happily married after nearly 40 years, a record infrequently challenged in the annals of celebrity couplings, and Toni Tennille could, as evidenced by this video, play different keyboard parts on two instruments while singing (not lip-synching) lead vocals for a #1 hit song, all while maintaining a generous, radiant smile -- simultaneously. In other words, laugh if you will, but Toni Tennille has more talent than any of us, benighted souls that we are, would know what to do with: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjloX_EvYiI

My understanding of the definition of hipster is: young, white, lives in the city.
I've been taught all my life to value service to the weak and powerless.

Why hasnt the Captain left Tennille for a 21 year old girl yet?
