i know, even with $30 million, seems like NBA players are avoiding Orlando like it is the plague or new Clippers or new NJ.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but this is the exact reason why I'm glad we aren't going after Bynum:

Brian K. Schmitz:
If I'm Magic fan paying these prices, I don't want rebuild. I'd want ABynum and to be competitive. Not going to beat Miami for years anyway.

If we aren't going to beat Miami for 4 years anyway, doesn't it make perfect sense to rebuild now? No point in getting Bynum to have him leave us next year anyway. Schmitz, the "Magic insider", annoys me. Just read some if his latest tweets. :p

they were in the past because Dwight isnt buddies with the stars of the league. He is buddies with the 2nd tier stars. Dwight hasnt been able to recruit anyone to come play with him. That tells you a little bit about him more than Orlando.

Players want money. When Orlando has cap space, a new GM that can actually draft and not overpay for players like Otis, with no state income tax, players will come.

I got a trade proposal for a 3 way with the Lakers since I am also a Pistons fan.

Orlando gets: Drummond, Maxiel (exp), Will Bynum(exp), Metta World Peace, Daye (exp) and future 1st

Lakers get: Howard, JRich

Pistons get: Bynum, Duhon

Ideas?

And Magic would do this for... ? Yes, we get rid of JRich, but Metta WP got an equally bad contract.

If I was the Orlando GM I would try this:

To: LA
Out Dwight/Turk/Jason Richardson

LA: sends out
Bynum/trade exceptions/expirings

Bynum goes with Glen Davis, Duhon to golden State for Bogut/Jack/trade exception/first round pick unprotected

Bogut and trade exceptions goes to Cleveland for Varejao/Triston/first round pick

Varejao and trade exception to Utah for Al Jefferson and first round pick

Al Jefferson to Toronto for Linas Kleiza/trade exception/first round pick

Dwight and all the crap salaries are traded for Kleiza and first round picks from Utah, Cleveland, Toronto, and Golden State. Sign a bunch of minimum contracts, tank.

Orlando is able to draft Shabazz Muhummad with their own pick, Cody Zeller with Toronto's pick, James McAdoo with Cleveland's pick, Nerlens Noel with Utah's pick, and Phil Pressey with Golden State's pick.

At least that is what I would do on NBA Live

Honestly, you guys should want Bynum. He's 24, has a better offensive game than Dwight, and, I believe, wouldn't turn down the extra $25 mill to stay with you guys.

Bynum will play for whomever pays him the most. That's what he wants. No reason Orlando can't offer that and build around him for the next 7 years. It's better than tanking. Even if you get some 1st round picks, there's no guarantee that those picks pan out. The 2nd best Center in the NBA could be on your team.

No reason to assume Bynum wouldn't want to play in Orlando. It's a nice, warm-weather city, where he would be "the man". I think your GM needs to have a little more confidence in retaining your own Free-Agents.

Cleveland's the only player can facilitate a trade with Orlando and L.A. Lakers.

Just my opinion, but Bynum is one of the more overrated players in the league. I'd question rating him as the second best C if the center position talent in the league wasn't pure garbage.

From what I see as a person who doesn't watch all the laker games, correct me if wrong:

- Slow and lethargic play, even on offense. Almost no vertical
- Lazy on defense
- Can disappear during games
- Injury prone
- Bad attitude

The last 2 is bar none the reasons Hennigan is not sold on Bynum.

Just let the bum Dwight Coward walk and get the cap space. First off, his agent just said he will not extend with anyone and explore his free agent options at the end of next year. This in essence handcuffs the Magic as no one would want to deal with him. Unless Houston is still willing to trade for him with no guarantees he'll resign, and we can get some young talent in return. Make him play out his contract and then he can come off the books. If he dogs it, suspend him. Plus if he dogs it, it will only hurt his reputation even more than it has already. This whole thing of players holding teams hostage has to end.

Zaza, picks, contracts of Devin Harris and Petro for Dwight and JRich.

the difference between the LA offer and Atlanta offer is that Zaza is an expiring contract, while Varejao has a 3 year contract left.

it is not a fair trade, but i think Zaza's contract is a whole lot better than Varejao's contract.

Varejao, $17 million... Zaza, $5 million.... Zaza by far has the better contract.

no way, anybody would give up a 1st round pick for Varejao, he is a PF, he has been injured for the last two years, he puts up scrub numbers, and gets paid $9million a year while putting up scrub numbers. Varejao couldn't get a first round pick just like the Thunder couldn't get a first round pick for Perkins.

oh look, the atlanta fan saying their package is better.....

Varejao can play PF or Center. And teams desperate for a big that will do dirty work would definitely give up a 1st for him.

I take back the Zaza and cap space (JRich) offer

Dwight's agent just killed any hope of getting 10 cents to the dollar. Atlanta would rather just wait until free agency and not have to take on JRich's contract and keep the draft picks. :eyebrows:

Exactly. Just how big a prick has Howard become. By declaring that no matter where he goes he will explore free agency he has totally screwed the Magic in getting anything of value in return.

So let me get this straight. He wont sign an extension with anyone, yet he wants to be traded yesterday? What a douche.

Even money says he is not traded, stays with he team, but does not play a single game claiming his back is still hurt.

Lets stop acting like Dwight would even be slightly interested in going to Atlanta. Teams like Atlanta, Houston, and I guess any other team beside Lakers and Nets would have to trade for Dwight if they ever want him.

maybe, but it is still going to be a fun off season for the Hawks, especially with Horford wrapped up for the long term.

If Dwight waits it out and becomes a free agent next year, how many teams would have the cap room to sign him. I doubt it would be any of the teams he might want with the possible exception of Dallas.

That is a good point. He still would want the Lakers or Nets but they will be over the cap. See he needed the Magic to help him get there but he burned his own bridges. Unless Stern creates a "drop your bad contracts" clause that only the Lakers, Celtics, or Heat could use to clear cap space to sign Howard. (Yes sarcasm).

I like the idea of Dwight having no good team to sign with but scrubby teams. He'll want the Magic to sign and trade him, but I hope we don't. Let him rot.

It only takes one, but a few other teams are going to show Dwight a good time like SEC school do for top high school football recruits
