/ Unofficial free agency ends thread. Not that we're expecting much other than low key signing. Possibly off the summer team. Blah...
Hope Mayo he doesn't explode..
I agree with the Green signing and it's fiscally responsible nature, but Mayo is a good player with kinda the mystique of stardom behind him slightly. Hopefully for our sake and odds at about (90/10) at max potential already.
In the end to get Augustin and Green and upgrades, without getting crazy, is solid. With the market being stupid, I think these are the Donnie Walsh/Kevin Pritchard type moves that allow us to look more than competitive for years to come. Knock on wood...

Re: Mayo signs with Mavs..
Could turn out a nice offseason for the Mavs if Kaman stays healthy and if Collison and Mayo return to the form of their rookie years.
I would have taken the risk on Mayo for 8M + 8M PO, but I admit the CBA still has many secrets to me and I do think it's still a very good offseason for the Pacers. No big names, but we know better what we will get from those guys: One of the best backup PGs in the league. One of the best backup Cs in the league and possibly also one of the best wingmen off the bench. Plumlee and Stephenson showed enough promise in SL to give them the rest of the minutes.
And there is always the trade deadline to try to add a missing piece for the playoffs.

Good for him. He's going to be a starter and i think he can get back to his old form. Gotta grab him a bit earlier in next season's fantasy basketball.

Re: Mayo signs with Mavs..
On the note of a Pacers' target signing with another team, Courtney Lee will be involved in a sign-and-trade to the Celtics.
I think that's a great situation for him, to back up (maybe even start over?) Jason Terry. He'll get lots of playing time since Bradley is hurt and Allen left.

Damn, Mayo signed for pretty cheap according to wiretap.
If he plays well then that's effectively a one year deal, but that's a nice deal for the Mavs.
Mayo agreed to a two-year contract for $8.5 million with Dallas, with the second year being a player option.

It's a steal. He made more money ($ 5,5 million) last year on his rookie deal.
Still I doubt the Mavs will be good enough to compete with the better Western conference teams.

Re: Mayo signs with Mavs..
I think for both Lee and Mayo it was all about opportunity. We were basically offering Mayo the same playing time arrangement he had in Memphis. Can't blame him for wanting to know he would be starting and probably the second option to boot. Lee is probably a starter in Boston too. I think Gerald Green is a comparable acquisition to either Lee or Mayo. And he might have more upside.
