machado

Post#1 » by ShumpertIsland » Fri Jul 20, 2012 5:04 am

Hi, I am a knicks FAN.

But I am also a Lin fan.

I just want to know what is the Rockets point guard situation.

Who do you have for point guard position ?

Will you guys pick up Machado ?

In my humble opinion I think Machado is worth the pickup.
Toney Douglas is garbage.
He couldn't crack playing time even with Baron Davis hurt and with Mike Bibby throwing bricks and with Lin hurt.

Would you guys pick up Machado ?

Machado is so much better than Fortson.
Wonder where Boykins will end up this year.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

It should just be Lin and Machado at point + White (if not traded) as 3rd pointforward.

All I know is that I watched Toney Douglas long enough to know that he is NOT a point guard.

And making him a combo guard is an overstatement

They should sign machado for 1 year none gurantee

Fortson is a bum. They should cut him. Machado looked better and better after every SL game. He had 10 assists per game in college so that is a good sign. Lin and Machado should be a lock. But I'd like to get keep Z dragic too. Douglas is more of an SG

Point guard, shooting guard... who gives a ****? He still blows regardless of what position he plays.

And this Machado kid looks like the real deal. Lock him up quick.

Livingston will be traded. His contract is partially guaranteed and a good trading chip.
Forston is likely gone.

The PG position looks like:
- J Lin
- T Douglas
- S Machado

We all know I'm definitely down to lock up Machado. I think he can become a really solid PG in this league. I don't think he'll ever be an All-Star or anything, but I think he has the potential to be a really good back-up and/or solid starter. Plus we can get him for a bargain. That never hurts.

He isn't starter material. Could be a decent backup though.

He isn't starter material right now, but with time and the right situation (role, coach, system) I think he could be.

I think we should pass on Machado after reading this article:

For a undrafted rookie , he sure is arrogant,

Scott Machado, the former Iona point guard, is a committed Knicks fan. But he stopped short of saying he was an admirer of Linsanity last season when Jeremy Lin was electrifying the league with his come-from-nowhere play.

“I wasn’t on his bandwagon,” Machado said. “I was a Knicks fan and we were winning with him, so I was just happy.”

Machado went undrafted last month but caught on with the Houston Rockets summer league team. Now, armed with an invite to the Rockets training camp, Machado has a chance to make the team and possibly back up Lin at point guard.

Machado is subdued and naturally polite, but in comments he made Saturday following a charity game, it was clear Machado is not as charmed with Lin as the Houston Rockets, who signed Lin to a back-loaded three-year $25 million contract earlier this month.

“I feel like Jeremy Lin is a good player - nothing against his game - but I want to show my talent and be able to play there as well,” Machado said. “If I have to sit behind him for a little while then that’s fine, but hopefully one day I’ll be starting for an NBA team.”

Machado said he’s in discussion with several other NBA teams and it’s possible he never makes it to the Rockets training camp. The Rockets purged most of their roster after last season and lost unrestricted free agent Goran Dragic to Phoenix and traded Kyle Lowry to Toronto, making the team especially thin at point guard. Based on his senior season at Iona, when he led the nation in assists, Machado is confident in his ability to run a team. Machado also agreed with a reporter who suggested he probably had a better college career than Lin, who played at Harvard.

“He’s shown what he could do, and like you said, I had a better college career than he did,” Machado said. “And he just got a chance to show what he can do. He’s more of a scorer, and I’m more of a real point guard. It would be fun for a while [backing Lin up], but I wouldn’t like it. I’d want to play. It’s a business and they’re going to do what they’re going to do.”

At the same time, Machado acknowledged his NBA career bears a resemblance to Lin’s start. The charity game that Machado participated in Saturday at Adelphi University honored the lives of Jamie and Paige Malone, a well as Michael Mulhall, who were killed in a 2010 car crash.

“I feel like I’m in the same situation he was last year,” Machado said of Lin. “He was undrafted, ended up with a bunch of teams and ended up with the Knicks, and he ended up doing a good job with the Knicks. Now, he got a big contract and he’s an excellent player. I feel like he has a lot of talent, and he came from an underrated school, and he was able to show his talent. So I feel I’ll be able to do that as well.”

But backing him up?

“I’ll back him up if I have to,” Machado said with a smile.

Probably was baited during this interview... rookie mistake.

Still, he's deluded if he thinks he's anywhere near Lin's talent level. He should worry about getting a contract in the NBA first, before thinking about starting.

Does every undrafted scrub now think they can replicate Linsanity?

I''m not concerned about that article. I agree that he was probably baited by the reporter (probably looking for an anti-Lin angle). I don't think that he was trying to be disrespectful.

I have no problem with Machado or any other player, old or young, talking about their ability and what they expect from themselves. I like players with a little swag to their step (hence Motie being my favorite Rocket on the team right now). I don't want players to come in and say "Yeah, I'm cool with riding the pine as long as I get paid."

Swag is good. This team has needed some for a while. Too many nice, polite guys.

I don't care if this team is 0-30, I want Motie, Parsons, Lin, Patterson and the rest of the guys walking tall like they own the place.

I hope he was baited. I really hope so.

Because the last thing you want is an attitude problem in Houston Rockets.

Because they are all rookies and you just want to be low key guy and let the plays on the court speak for itself.

We don't want any Stephen Marbury II . That would be my worst night mare.

I also think the new york daily news is a bit devious.
kind of infer or imply numerous things. I really hate them.

I always think i have respect for reporters until Stephen A Smith and pretty much the whole media reporters stink it up....to me they are high class prostitutes
