There was some criticism for Scola yesterday. Someone on the Knicks board posted a pretty accurate comment though. Bolded part.

Hey guys, just some thoughts about the game. Like I said the first time I posted in this board, I don't think Pablo will be the starter. He can provide some help, but I don't expect him to be a start or anything, just a "blue collar" type of player.

On to Pablo: like I said in that post, he doesn't like to shoot, and those who watched the game probably noticed it. This wasn't a bad game for him, nor his best. But he played most of the game with a extreme physical exigence, played excellent D, set the tone for the team... more or less what all of us who know him expected. He didn't make a lot of assists, but that's because of Argentina's game, where ball movement is constant and never stops.

Now, I find funny people pulling stats without watching the game. To measure his impact, Pablo produced more than CP3 and Deron combined. But here's the thing: CP3 and Deron are way better than Pablo, way more rested, with players that can produce at a really high level. Every player in Team USA is a superstar. Every substitution of Team USA was a superstar. Argentina doesn't even have a bench. So give credit where credit is due

Just one thing: despite what many people said/thinks, Scola had a pretty good game. You have to think Argentina has only 5 players and not a single C. The starting C for Argentina is "so good" he was alone next to the rim.... and Westbrook (6'' shorter) came from half court and blocked him. That's the starter. The reserve had an "ouchy" 2 seconds into the game and was taken out. So Scola was basically playing alone against 5 or 6 different players, including LeBron, Durant, Carmelo, Chandler, Iguodala, Love... believe me, the guy did whatever he could and had a pretty good game all things considered.

Anyway, again, I won't hold a candle for Pablo being Knick's starter. But if you need a very good reserve, you got it. And you got it for pennies. What else could you ask for?
