I'd still love to give Jonny Flynn an opportunity here in Orlando. I know he's trying out for teams, hopefully Hennigan has his eye on him.
Lets go Magic!!!

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.XLI Off-Season Edition)
Maybe the Magic realize at the end of the day if Dwight leaves, he is leaving for a team with a complete rebuild anyway. He only gets to a large market if we trade him there, so why should the franchise do him any favors.
Maybe he does walk at the end of the year, but maybe it is the Magic that say hey look, we love you for all your indifference and will put the best team we can around you. We are not trading you to create a super team and we are not trading you to a team that may end up trading you so that you end up on a super team.
Maybe this time RDV remembers getting taken for a ride by Shaq. Maybe this time he puts the biggest and best contract on the table and dares Dwight to walk away.
It would be a ballsy move, but it would also be something that no owner would have the guts to do and something these prima dona players need to wake up to a fresh sense of reality since we all know they do not live in it.

Exactly. No news, no head coach, no Dwight trade, nothing. I stayed away for a couple days waiting to see if "facts" develop. More lost now then ever as to what team we are fielding come next season.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.XLI Off-Season Edition)
I knew Donatas was a highly touted asset back when he was just "rights" to a euro player, but I havent followed him enough to wonder if he's that good to wait till August for. If he's above Terrence Jones or Royce White in the Magic FO's minds, then just him, Lamb and the TOR pick (maybe one protected HOU pick) can get a deal done. But my preference is TOR, DAL pick, 2-3 HOU future 1sts with as much haggling on lowering their protections, and then adding Lamb, Jones, Parsons. It seems Asik is not officially a Rocket until Tuesday evening because of the Feigen tweet, and if the Rockets quickly cut some players/cap holds that are not important (except to gaining cap space) and have to wait 48 hours for that process to play out fully then maybe there's no substantial talks again until late Thursday night and on, whether as the main Orlando offer or as leverage in other talks.
But like the MagicOne says, I think there's something to be said for making Dwight having to walk if it comes to it, and that should make him want to re-sign next summer in the end. I think there's a whole new season to be had between Dwight and the Magic up and down in their organization that will give Dwight a new positive impression over any lingering hurt feelings, regardless of who's at fault. Dwight obviously deserves to be a FA if he wants to be, he opted into finishing his full original deal and would definitely fulfill it by playing at 100% for us. I think the most critical component byyyyy far in establishing this idea in principle from the Magic towards Dwight, is to truly, truly tell Fegan and Dwight that there is a 0% chance of Dwight being traded for the whole season. His only option is to play out the season and then explore his FA, with Orlando holding the best max deal and an improving roster and FO. The other teams will have to gut a good team for max cap space so there's very legitimate arguments to be made that Orlando is the best situation, especially overall in all factors included. Once you factor in Dwight's initial shock of his immediate future settled into Orlando all of next season, Dwight's mind might race through options of leaving Orlando in FA for a while but over the course of a full season which is months and months long, this will go to the wayside (with no further discernible media angles to be discovered when the Magic have established a clear no-trade statement for the whole season) and when his UFA comes, he'll explore everything but with a much more freer mind, including a return to Orlando, where it has always made the most sense through it all. (Im sure Houston would also try to operate with Dwight on this same idea but they also could play it coy, and might split the difference and trade him for Bynum down the line, whether deadline or summer SnT, since they're higher on him and whereas Orlando is wary and more leaning to lottery talents via the rumors about Henny.)

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.XLI Off-Season Edition)
Duhon is definitely overpaid especially in this CBA.
There is no doubt whichever team has him next summer will buy him out. The guy is a third string point guard in this league who will likely be on make good contracts after this season.

ill give ya some info on Donatas this year when he was playing in the summer league. He Mad the All Summer league team

the one game i watched(the first game the rockets had) he looked like the REAL DEAL as hes got good offensive skills(i mean he can go from Post up to 3 pointer easily) and hes got alot of youth and potential to be even better. rebounded the ball well and played solid Post defense and blocked a couple of shots IIRC

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.XLI Off-Season Edition)
If we could make a trade and get DMo, Lamb & Parsons as the center pieces, plus picks then I think that is your best best for Howard.
However, the problem with the way Rob wants to rebuild or retool is he wants the players to grow together. Well in that case, he would have to get that point guard somehow to grow too. But if your team was:
PG - ?
SG - Lamb
SF - Parsons
PF - Nicholson
C - DMo
There are your pieces to grow with.
However, they would have to ship Kevin Martin Back too. The only thing I think would work in our favor this season is if it was a season to showcase talent for trades.
So you would have a lot of veterans blocking these rookies from playing together.
PG - Nelson
SG - KMart & JJ
SF - Hedo
PF - BBD
C - Ayon
All of these players could end up being trade bait or in the case of JJ & KMart they might bring a return in the offseason on an S&T.
Can't wait much longer to see what Rob does. lol

Sam Amico
Source familiar with Lakers-Cavs-Magic talks says potential trade not dead, but in holding pattern. Teams seem to be weighing options, with Magic, in particular, seeing what else might be out there.

houston wants to keep Kevin Martin if at all possible. And I could easily see Parsons beating out Hedo for starting SF and Dmo and Ayon fighting for the starting position. Remember, Ayon may be older, but he has just 1 year in the NBA. so i disagree that any current vets, especially ones like Hedo and KMart, would keep rookies from playing. They might keep someone from starting initially, but it isnt who starts, its who plays and finishes.

But that is not really the point if they can beat them out. You want to maximize their potential trade value. Let them have "career years" and then trade them for young players & picks.

Tony Mejia @TonyMejiaNBA
After riding Dwightmare rollercoaster all July, look for deal to be in place in next 2 weeks. Magic/Rockets, surely. Lakers, maybe. No Cavs.
