Thats the only conclusion ive come to in regards to why he isnt playing as much and why his effort seems to be low. after all these are exhibition games right? Similar to summer league.

I hate to be the one to tell you but you're wrong. Dead wrong.

The raptors management and JV's agent wouldn't dare interfere in the Lithuanian NT. And no, these aren't like summer league, they are preparation games to get ready for an Olympic tournament of huge significance to Lithuanian pride. Add to that, any game between a former soviet country and Russia is always going to have a lot more at stake. Games like these are an exhibition only in name, the reality is that they are taken a lot more seriously than that.

Wait they were waived? When did this happen?

I remember James Naismith posted the day of the Landry/Lowry presser. That was only a week ago? Maybe he went on vacation but why would they ban him he was better then most of the posters on this board.

Jonas played mediocre defense. Some flashes were shown but he was dunked on at least 3 or 4 times.

I tried to see what you were talking about, but a couple of times he was giving help. Another time he was caught in no man's land after helping and no one bothered to pick up Mozgov, but he probably could have recovered. The only dunk he really gave up was after getting pinned on a screen.

OT

Anyone followed USA-Argentina game? Argentina played great, but their size problem is even worse. Their starting PF was Nocioni, which is ok, but their starting C is Scola... Oh boy, guys like Splitter and Jonas should go ham on him, he couldn't stand a chance. And they have nothing bigger than that, there is one 6'11 guy but hes a scrub.
Another thing, they seems to have no solid backup PG, and 35 years old Prigioni is forced to play 30+ minutes per game.
So in conclusion, Argentina is star powered elite team with Scola, Manu, Delfino, Prigioni, but they do look extremely vulnerable. Can't see them in semis, Brazil, Russia and Spain should wreck that team.

So in summary, a physically stronger and more experienced C in Mozgov outplayed Jonas physically, but Jonas was still able to score in the team context (PnR).

Kind of confirms what most realists believe about the kid, that he has talent but will need to put on strength and size for the nba. Hope he gets some good PT in the next few games

Mozgov usually has a good game against Lithuania and Jonas, but Jonas always seems to have a good game against Russia and Mozgov. So its a tie. In fact, I can post their stats, check it out :

LTU 76-91 RUS

Jonas : 14 points (5/6 FG : 4/4 FT), 7 rebounds : 18 minutes
Mozgov : 18 points (5/11 FG : 8/10 FT), 6 rebounds : 26 minutes

LTU 80-88 RUS

Jonas : 13 points (5/8 FG : 3/8 FT), 16 rebounds : 32 minutes
Mozgov : 16 points (6/8 FG : 4/4 FT), 3 rebounds : 23 minutes

LTU 68-77 RUS

Jonas : 12 points (6/11 FG : 0/2 FT), 8 rebounds : 21 minute
Mozgov : 10 points (5/7 FG : 0/0 FT), 10 rebounds : 15 minutes

LTU 79-101 RUS

Jonas : 12 points (6/8 FG : 0/1 FT), 3 rebounds : 21 minute
Mozgov : 10 points (4/4 FG : 2/2FT), 1 rebounds: 11 minute

When is the iceland game that's on the 24th, and is that in the GMT timezone (e.g. can I assume it's tomorrow morning, EST)?

Thanks!

fredricklove was suspended for having over 5 warnings on his profile, and he created a new profile while he was suspended, which is an instaban. We are reviewing his case in the moderator forum.

I don't know what he did, but he posted so much, he should be allowed more warnings than normal.

Jonas still skinny.

Kaun looks like a decent backup veteran C.

What about JamesNaismith I know he was in complete depression after the draft and the offseason moves but what did he do?

I wasn't the one that did it, but I'll ask.

I watched the game and it is almost the same with every Lithuanian NT game. They live and die by the three. It is a shame because JV sets multiple picks for them and when he roles or presents himself he gets ignored. If they diversified their offense a bit them would give up such long rebounds which would reduce the number of transition buckets on long outlet passes. It seems like every miss leads to an easy score. If they missed in some post-ups with Klieza, and some pick and roll with JV they's be much more dangerous.

Lol, the coach is putting the pressure on Val regarding his fouls and crazy overachiever moves in the paint. And then he suggests Songaila is faster than Val, and Val needs to grow up... Not a single comment on how the team is unwilling to use Val for scoring, and forcing Val to overdo everything just to get noticed. Good thing Motiejunas did not want to live through this "seniority" crap. The national team with average talent and very awful chemistry. I hope Raptors do not get stuck on similar mentality when Val gets here.

Thanks Alfred. Getting the story behind it is a good reminder about what the rules are.

Has there been discussion of (non illegal streaming) options for watching the Lithuania games in the Olympics? Not many are likely to get shown here on the CTV consortium, or US coverage, right?

To anyone who is interested, JamesNaismith was not banned by the Raptors mods, he was banned by the General board mods for trolling and baiting apparently. If you would like any other feedback, please feel free to ask on the feedback board, or you can personal message me.

No chance. Lithuanian wonderboy will get full support from casey and colangelo to do as well as possible and look as good as possible, and may MLSE bless their souls.
