I think Attanasio puts Melvin on strict orders sometimes and it may hurt the team. As good as he's been, I do think he is a meddler ala Kohl.

Please trade now!

Other teams are getting other pitchers while Melvin and Attanasio are still wondering whether or not we can get back in the race. If we sell first, we have teams going against each other trying to get Greinke and we're the first to pick the best package.

+1000 --- I've been on the fire sale board since May.

I feel the same but I also feel Melvin wouldn't be able to come up with a quality trade even without meddling.

Dumpster hasn't signed off on the deal yet. Not a lock.

Yeah, my buddy in Chicago who is a Cubs honk said it sounds like the deal might be falling through.

What would it take for the Blue Jays to get Greinke?

I'd do Norris and Snydergaard for Greinke and our 2nd.

I agree that Melvin needs Attanasio to give the ok to start selling and that Mark would wait until the very end to give up, but he doesn't strike me as an overly stubborn and stupid guy either. So after this sweep by the Reds, my guess is that Attanasio has finally accepted that a playoffs run just isn't going to happen and will allow Melvin to trade Greinke.

Does anyone else think Greinke's "battery recharging" is because the team trading for him doesn't want him worn out after starting 3 consecutive times and performance dwindling, and was purposely scheduled so he wouldn't pitch in the biggest series of the year with management hoping we would get swept and selling at the deadline would be easier for the fans to accept? That's kind of what I think is going on, it will be interesting to see if I'm correct. Hopefully Greinke proves his fine, dazzles Tuesday, and his career as a Brewer becomes history.

Take another suitor off the list. Tigers acquire Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante for top prospect Jacob Turner.

Jack Curry ‏@JackCurryYES

The Yankees have acquired Ichiro Suzuki for RHPs DJ Mitchell and Danny Fahrquar, a source said. Yanks also get undisclosed cash in deal.

I have seen Melvin's deadline blunders but we have to remember that Greinke just skipped a start. Maybe we're getting lowballed. Also, a team that basically advertised a fire sale, Philly, has not dealt Hamels. I realize they are trying to extend him but maybe some teams haven't been willing to part with the A prospects to pry one of the two aces in their prime away.

Yet the Braves and Tigers were willing to part with top prospects for worse rental pitchers today.

Would Turner or Delgado be enough for you?

By the way, Rosenthal is on MLB Tonight. He said that teams want to see Greinke pitch before they trade for him. Step back from the ledge.

Considering we only get one pick for him and Seid hasn't shown any ability to get talent in the draft, yes.

Twirl how does this comp pick thing (trading) work. Its only on the "lotto" picks right.

Yes and they can only be traded once. For example if we trade the pick to Texas, they can't trade it and have to keep it.

When was the lotto and how do they weight it? Is there results? Is this a yearly thing?

Lotto was July 19th. The 10 smallest markets and the 10 lowest revenue teams are put in a lottery based on last year's standings. Yes it's a yearly thing and here are the results.
