Hoopsworld swears by the 3yr/25 mil number...8.6/8.6/8.0 (partial guarantee on third year)...Pincus corrected Mejia on it earlier.

Actually, just found it. So it was as bad as we thought...

Yeah, Hennigan is a joke. Trade Ryan for "cap flexibility" but give Nelson a raise?

funny, because I gave you crap all year because I am not a Ryan fan but I would have rather kept Ryan for $9 mil per over Jameer at $8 mil per.

Magic telling rival execs they may not trade D12. Are they serious or bluffing? Story up on http://espn.com

The Orlando Magic have told rival executives that they might not trade Dwight Howard after all, according to league sources.

An executive who has had discussions with the Magic regarding Howard said Orlando only will trade the star center in a deal that is great for the franchise. The executive said this has been Orlando's stance for the past "week or so."

Another executive who has talked with Orlando said he thinks the Magic may start the season with Howard and wait until the February trade deadline to move him.

Each executive left the door open for posturing, noting that the Magic may be bluffing in hopes of coaxing better offers out of opposing teams. But the overriding sense is that Howard may not be moved for weeks, if not months.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets both covet Howard, but each team has come away from trade discussions thinking the Magic -- at least for now -- are not interested in trading the six-time All-Star, according to sources.

Howard has been steadfast in his desire to be traded since the end of last season, telling new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan last month in their first face-to-face meeting that he wanted to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

This is what I envisioned happening all along. I think you all will re-sign Dwight next summer and then trade him for a treasure trove of riches once he's signed onto a new 5 year deal.

So wait you would rather have a someone of has proven themselves in the playoffs or a known playoff choker?

Trust me, I'm the village "Ryan Hater". But Ryan has one thing that Jameer no longer has, youth. He's coming off of a MIP award and has much more value than Jameer. That and the fact that both contracts mean you won't be major FA players for the next few years, so yes, I would rather have kept Ryan.

Will be interesting to see how Jameer's game changes with our new coach. Still waiting for confirmation from Josh Robbins on Jameer's deal, he's said the 25.3 figure sounded "off", so we'll see.

Josh Robbins ‏@JoshuaBRobbins
I have not been able to confirm any of it.

Same here, but with David Bauman.

So you would prefer Anderson, who chokes in the playoffs, on a fully guaranteed 4 year deal over Nelson, a true leader and clutch player, on a 3 year partially guaranteed deal?

Hmmm... luckily you aren't the GM.

I find it a little odd that no one in Orlando can figure out what he is getting yet some guy from Hoopsworld is 100% accurate and verified as he claims. Just saying, seems odd he's getting the exact same dollars as old contract.

With all our young forwards to develop, I would not want to keep Ryan on our roster for $9million per. It would be counterproductive in the long run and his contract would be unmovable. I don't like Jameer's contract, but I don't see it handcuffing us in anything we're trying to do. We'll have to see how the Dwight situation plays out before we can determine if this will really have a significant negative impact in any way.

^^^Agree.

This is what David Baumann messaged me on the 18th.

I sent Jameer's agent a text message about it. I was originally under the impression of 3/19.7M. I'll do my best to find out.

I just messaged him today, so hopefully I get something.

Regarding Jameer. I think the brass looked at the team and said, "Without Dwight, who is the face of our franchise next year?" The names for that honor are short... Nelson, JJ, Anderson, BBD. We drafted Nicolson and Anderson isn't going to thrive without Dwight so he was scratched off (and not resigned). JJ and BBD weren't even starters most of the year. So that leaves Jameer.

So they gave him a short, if rich contract. It's 3 years yes, but 2 years before it's an expiring contract and a trade asset. I don't think any of us actually believe we'll need the cap space before then right? So they overpaid a little so the team maintained some stability. That's my theory anyway.

exactly, 3 years, and he's an expiring, that has value at least if he's slipping, but, i think he will do well, but, Jameer is so undervalued by Magic fans... not even funny.
