I'm not much of a fan of Ellis like most Magic supporters. He won't win a title. Much like Allen Iverson didn't win one.

Please don't offend Iverson by even associating Monta in the same sentence with him.
Monta has 1/2 the talent and none of the heart A.I. did.

I literally have no clue where all this Monta love came from. Did he lead someone's NBA2K team to a title and the lines between fiction and reality were blurred?

That's the only way it could be explained.

I like you.

Why? Why would you want him here?

Gosh I hope this is purely speculation as I believe it is. I would hate to see that guy in Orlando.

No disrespect intended, Ark. But this is the logic I have seen a few people espouse. And I just don't get it. Getting something for Howard in my eyes is better then getting NOTHING! Getting nothing for Shaq didn't work out to well. Under no scenario is letting him walk better then getting SOMETHING for him. And we CAN get something good for him. Fair value? No way. But that is because of Howard's stance. But under no circumstances should we let him walk and get nothing.

If he decides to walk, it will be an s&t anyways. Because dwight is going to want that extra $30 mil that signing with Orl or s&t'ing to another team would offer. So I believe there is no rush. As long as we hold that extra $30 mil, there will always be something at the end.

I can see that, although I think it would be a waste of a year and set back the rebuild. But at least we would get something for him. May as well start setting the foundation for the rebuild as soon as Henny gets Houston to knuckle under.

Rules changed. Dwight will only get that extra $30M from the team he became a FA from. Meaning, no more S&T benefit to the players. If we have him past the trade deadline, we are the ONLY team that can pay him 5yrs/$108M (or whatever the max $ is). If he wants to PLAY somewhere else, he's walking away from that extra year and $30M of security.

It will on Tuesday — the Bulls will not match the three-year, $25.1 million offer sheet the Rockets gave center Omer Asik, reports K.C. Johnson at the Chicago Tribune. Asik will become a Rocket on the exact same deal that make Jeremy Lin a Rocket.

The Tribune reported on July 8 that Hinrich verbally agreed to a two-year deal, but it’s closer to $8 million in value, sources said…. The Bulls will add another shooting guard as well, with the imminent signing of Marco Belinelli for the biannual exception of $1.9 million.

Now are we trading D12 to Houston? How much can they absorb?

i have been a Magic fan my entire life and I will NEVER switch teams...however if they keep Dwight I will have a hard time cheering for him or respecting the franchise. Don't get me wrong I will root like hell for every other member of the team (minus Duhon), but I will not cheer for Dwight. I will also boycott purchasing any new apparel until he is gone or this ownership group mans up and trades the diva (was going to puchase a Nicholson jersey). Its pretty sad when my friends (I live outside of Buffalo) who are Bills fans are calling the Magic the biggest joke in sports. I would much rather watch a heart & hustle 2.0 on the court than have to watch guys who care (i.e. Jameer, JJ, BBD..etc.) be constantly thrown under the bus by the artist formerly known as superman.

This all being said the report did come from Brooosard's "sources" so he will probably be traded today lol...

no one cares who anyone you cheer for or dont cheer for. at the end of the day the majority of the fans will be cheering for the rest of the team even if you don't.

My thing is what will booing a player who is still in uniform with us ultimately accomplish? Lets say we boo D12 right out of Orlando (which I hope we don't do) we are only shooting ourselves in the foot...that will certainly make his decision easier from there on out!

How about we just end the speculation and do the trade already. I know it will take time. But oh well.

No they don't. All reports say he's asking for young talent AND multiple draft picks AND cap relief of multiple contracts AND a all-star

That is why every single team (even the fringe ones like the Hawks) has walked away and talks have been dead for over a week now

The Rockets do not have a all-star talent. Even they are not capable of making a trade that "Henny" is asking for. Although Henny obviously has nothing to do with it (He's smart enough from his experience at OKC to know how unrealistic and utterly ridiculous that is)

The Magic FO is not trying to trade Dwight. They are putting out these ridiculous demands and entertaining teams that have no real deal simply to make it look like they are trying while maintaining that they won't actually find a trade. Remember what happened with the Brooklyn trade. Henny knew exactly what they could offer, and yet he spent 2 whole days negotiating with them only to say at the end "they have nothing to trade". He would've known that from the start and didn't have to waste time even talking to them but he did. Then the very next day Henny goes to Dwight and asks him to reconsider staying. The goal all along was to make it look like they tried but just couldn't get it done to Dwight so he would maybe soften up once Brooklyn was no longer on the table.

And ever since that day not a single serious trade rumor has been out. There's been a couple overinflated ones (Cavs) but all of them were confirmed later to have never been serious. All reports have been that the Magic are holding back. All reports are Houston has been willing to deal but it takes two to trade as Aldridge said. All reports are that trade talks are quiet. And now the report is that the Magic are looking at keeping him.

People keep saying "He's doing this for leverage" "Oh Henny is starting a bidding war, how smart!" "This is just for leverage" "He's waiting to get the real deal that is obviously coming any minute now...any minute now" "Leverageeeee". I wish they would stop and consider maybe Henny has nothing to do with this. Just like he had no real final say in the coaching hire and the actual meaningful interviews went to Martins and RDV, all these trade ploys could very well be instructions by RDV because he still wants to keep Dwight. People act like because Otis is gone we can expect the best and most logical moves now..but Martins and RDV are still at the top. These are still the same people that promised Dwight help so he would sign the extension and then never did. The same people who keep Otis around for so long. As long as Henny doesn't have complete power, the FO is still doomed to poor management (and the emotions of a 86 year old man)

What has cheering Howard for 8 years accomplished? He wants to haul butt. He is shooting US in the foot. I will gladly boo his selfish as*!

No they don't. All reports say he's asking ....

Anything after the bold part doesn't matter. If you believe all reports, then Dwight would be in Brooklyn right now; or was it LA? Agents and other "sources" leak any info to guide their own agendas or manipulate public opinion where it suits them. We have no idea what Rob has truly asked or what has truly been offered.

The general panic over the idea of Dwight getting booed or the team going through a media circus if he stays this year -- it's all extremely shortsighted IMO. I'd much rather go through an ugly season now and be in better shape for the future than take a bad deal and suck long term just to avoid a few tough months in the short term.

Rob Hennigan and staff will travel to L.A. later this week. They'll try to persuade Dwight Howard to return to Orlando: http://t.co/qs9nFY6w

After months of drama, Dwightmare ending may be anticlimactic. The Orlando Magic will try to persuade Howard to return: http://t.co/qs9nFY6w

I'll root for the Magic, just not Dwight. If he does something good I will just yell "good job member of the Orlando Magic".

That said, keeping him is an absolutely awful idea. He is wildly overrated. We would be doing ourselves a favor if we head in a different direction.

I honestly believed we could have gotten very far in the playoffs last season if D12 were healthy and everyone else play their roles a bit better!

Why bother? Get Ellis and Smith and we still don't have a chance. We would just have the dumbest players in the league on our team. That is all we would accomplish.
