But those big men with the exception of Russell were dominant offensive players. Thats the key here. Dwight isn't dominant on offense. It is simply not a weakness you can just ignore and pass it off on his "lack of help".

Unless the Magic sign AK47 or someone of similar impact, this presentation will do nothing for Dwight. It's not about words anymore.

why do you assume this? Why does anyone not believe there is a possibility that Dwight does not want to be here. that he wants to be in a big city, young, rich and enjoying everything?

You're right. I should have stated it as my opinion. But I do believe D12 does love the city of Orlando and would ultimately like to win here. He didn't have to opt-in at the deadline and he could have been in BRK now. I personally still believe this comes back to winning. If D12 were traded to LA, I believe he'd re-up their next offseason because he knows he'd be battling for a championship every year. And if HOU were to build around D12 well enough, I think the same applies to them.

But you're right. It could just be about money and lifestyle. I tend to think a lot of this could have been avoided had the Magic had a team that was competing for the Conference Finals/Finals every year.

I don't know about AK47. Been awhile since I've seen him play. But I agree. There has to be some action.

Edit: I would like to sign AK47 though. He's a good role player.

Realistically...if the Magic trade for Ellis and Iggy, are we beating the Heat in ECF and then Lakers or Thunder in Finals? We can but probably not. Howard as the #1 scoring option will NOT win a title. I would love for him to stay long term and we get good players to go around and have deep playoff runs but we will be left deflated year after year. That is why a big part of me wants to take the HOU deal and rebuild completely and be ready to contend once the Heat's run is done. Wade is on the decline physically and LeBron probably opts out in a few years and goes to the Lakers/Knicks etc. If the Thunder decide not to pay Harden a MAX contract and not give Ibaka $12 million a year, they might not win until the Heats run is over. Durant and Westbrook rely way too much on jump shots. Kobe retires in 2 years, Duncan and KG will be done by then. Joe Johnson and G Wallace will be declining in a 3 years too. Rebuilding now the right way could make us a true contenders in 4 years. I could see Love and LeBron teaming up in LAL in a few years if they both opt out.

Dwight Howard carried the 08-09 team to the finals. Hedo was widly inconsistent and Rashard was never a 20ppg scorer. The team was composed of solid role players who excelled off one another. Lets not belittle Howard now that he asked for a trade.

Dwight is really good at defending pick and roll, something the Thunder sucked horribly at. That is why even with our sucky team we still did well against Miami. On paper looking at Lebron Wade and Bosh vs Iggy Ellis and Dwight you might want to say "no way", but Dwight turns Wade and Lebron into spot up shooters. We've always had good defense, having a modicum of offensive power would put us over the top.

I don't think that is true. Wade and Lebron dominate the Magic most of the time. Dwight doesn't stop much.

If Hennigan has a plan to keep Dwight, Dwight is too smart to believe him. Everyone can tell that the real decision making still takes place up top and that hasn't changed. The new GM is just a new face. The core of the problem is still there. New results are no where to be found. As excited as we want to be about our draft, those aren't going to be selling points to Dwight. Giving Nelson that brand new overpaid contract certainly isn't either. Getting rid of Ryno and bringing Redick back for a year are bad signs of a team trying to show their superstar that they are trying to get better.

For Dwight to come back, things had to happen around him this summer, and they haven't. Hennigan has no selling point.

@LastGuardian

Most critical shots at the end of games are shot by perimeter players, If any player drives to the basket with a dominant Big Man does their defender leave them, HECK NO... A big man needs Good to Great perimeter players to win, PERIOD

That is why I said they can but not sure if they will...Dwight need an elite wing defender (Iggy) + a great passing PG (CP3) + 3 pt shooters to really contend. I like Ellis but do not think he is a piece that makes us contend. Now if he came on the cheap with Iggy and CP3 to play with Howard then yeah we are legit contenders. I know...pipe dreams. But Ellis/Howard isn't getting it done.

Nelson
Ellis
Hedo
BBD
Howard

Not winning Title. ECF yes. NBA title, no.

A Howard/Iggy/Ellis trio can beat Heat and Thunder.

Howard/CP3/Iggy trio would beat Heat and Thunder.

If we keep Howard, it has to he CP3 or bust. Iggy can guard LeBron. CP3 and Howard would destroy Mario Chalmers and Joel Anthony.

I wonder if Rob's presentation is anything like Pat Riley's. He somehow convinces everyone to sign for the Heat after he meets with them.

That could do the trick.
