Real GM power ranking

Post#1 » by marsblazer » Tue Jul 24, 2012 7:16 pm

#23? I feel that's a bit low with the suns, wizards, hawks, and magic ahead of us. I understand a rookie pg and uncertainty at the c, but come on.

Nah dude, we're really awful. Our team is basically Aldridge, Batum and Mathews. Can you imagine looking at another team that had two mediocre swing men and a jumpshooting power forward as the returning players and thinking they would be better than middle of the lottery?

Here's a link if'n anybody has trouble finding it like I did http://basketball.realgm.com/article/22 ... r_Rankings

edit: That's only 3 spots lower than we were last season. If we go from having a veteran laden team with a lot of guys in contract years to a team of 3 guys and a bunch of rookies and only slip 3 spots in the standings we should feel blessed. And also I'm hoping we do worse than that to get a higher pick in next year's draft.

Gonna have to disagree in general, and specifically in relation to the other teams I mentioned. Have you seen PHXs roster? Talk about a hot mess. Orlando is either going to have a Dwight that is pissed he's there or crap spare parts they get for him. Atlantas in more of a rebuild than even us. Wizards look ok on paper...but they are the wiz. I don't buy into the timberwolves or Utah love either.

The semantics of a few spots that all equal irrelevancy. I love ebott's post.

Who really cares if you think about it. How often to rankings like this have teams overrated and other teams underrated? These things are just someone's opinion. It has nothing to do with how the season will turn out.

I think our biggest knock is our size we don't have a true center yet. Leonard needs to get bigger for that to happen. But I like the rest of our team at this point.

Pg rotation is set w lillard plus a vet and Nolan
We have 3 young sg w potential
Batum Claver at sf is good if they prove their worth. Lotof questions to answr thisvseason
Lma with tons of back up pfs
Leonard and Freeland is small and will get muscled inside for rebounds but their both rookies so plenty of potential.

We are a rebuilding team with all this youth so growing pains are to be expected but if we can grab another good lotto pick next year I see us being a seriously deep team. There's also the potential for lillard to have a great year and be in the pof race. But again we don't have size

Just interesting to see outside perspective of where this team is compared to my own. I prefer to look at it that we are bringing back one of the best PF in the game and two improving solid wings. I also would be very surprised if lillard isn't a lot better than Felton.

I think we're either 21 or 22. We're better than Phoenix and might be better than the Bucks too.

Way too many variables. We could really swing up or down significantly.

I think PHX with Dragic-Dudley-whoever-Scola-Gortat tops the Blazers lineup at least next season. The Blazers have too many unknown variables at this point to be anywhere higher than 23 so I'd say we're right about where we belong.

It's easy to rank the Blazers on the back 10 of the league right now when you have a lot of unproven players at this point. Keep in mind the Blazers are coming into training camp with 5 rookies.

Blazers are in for a brutal season, #23 is not low. You need to go back to 2005 to find a Blazers team as untalented as this one. This team is not as bad as 2005 but it’s bad. We have a lot riding on a rookie PG who is going to make fat Felton look like a 1st team All-NBA player. Our center is Hickson unless Freeland can play. Leonard is going to test Rice and Barrett's ability to perpetrate a fraud on Blazers fans. Good thing they have years of practice with PrissyBella. Leonard has tons more talent than PrissyBella but he is not ready to play a big role on a NBA team.

I dont put much stock into rankings of teams
before the NBA season has started, & even
then I would wait two months atleast.. .

Also dont be fooled, its going to be
a tough season. Outside of Aldridge
the Blazers best players are a rookie
and two players that would be coming
off a bench if they were on a good team.

stopped reading after that. idiotic post. should be banned for stupidity honestly.

Lillard will be way better than Matthews this year. rookie or not.

as for the ranking.. ehh.. should be 19-20 to start out but it doesn't matter really.

I would agree that Portland is ranked a little low - I'd have the Blazers around 20 or so, but I don't see them winning much more than 30 games this year. That said, it will certainly be a whole lot more entertaining to watch a team with so many new and young players develop than last year's patchwork Band-Aid disaster.

Batum would start for the thunder(sg), bulls(sg), spurs, clippers, and lakers. The Batum backlash has gone too far dude is good

A big part of why the Blazers will be bad is LA and Batum are terrible for a 1 and 2 option. Our top end talent sucks.

The second reason Blazers will be bad is below par playmaking. The whole team is going to perform below its capabilities because our playmaking is going to be awful.

The third reason we will stink is a lack of players that understand their roles. We will fail to rebound, play defense, and execute.

None of this should be a surprise to anyone.

This power ranking is very good news. The Blazers are the best rebuilding team.

Comparing all of the teams before the season starts, I agree with ranking the Blazers #23. I would rank them slightly better than Cleveland. I see a lot of similarities between the Cavs and the Blazers. Both teams are rebuilding after the major loose of their best player. Both teams have a stable of unproven young talent and a couple of good players, with a very slight edge to the Blazers.

I don't seee any way how the Blazers cannot be a bottom 10 team, its simply impossible even in the best case scenario. I think the Hornets have more potential than the Blazers at this point, heck I'd place us at 28, but I should note that I'm drunk...
