With the second best player on the team being a toss-up between Beasley/JO/Marion and a rookie/2nd year (when he was worse) PG.

And I dont see that being our crunch time lineup. Sub Battier for Lewis.

Spo seems to be catching ground FAST on the leading coaches in the NBA. he's still young and growing, but i like his chances.

Even with LBJ, Wade and Bosh, I can still see a Coach of the Year in his future. His work ethic is second to none. No other coach is gonna outwork this guy.

You got "love" from my post?

More like, Spo is still not ready and still needs to grow to be able to coach this team. I am still convinced that someone, maybe Pat Riley, helped Spo because everything changed after game 5 of the BOS series. Suddenly Spo was doing great adjustments.... something he is NOT known for and epically failed with his whole time here in MIA, including last year's Finals.

We are stuck with him, so I am hoping everything works out and everyone helps him so he can be our future Pat Riley.

There were articles and the Heat players were commenting how Spo did a great job adjusting against Pacers. Give credit where credit is due.

I've said throughout the year that Spo is pretty good at making adjustments between games and he proved that in the playoffs. He's definitely improving from 2011 where he wouldn't even switch out Bibby for Chalmers. He still needs to work on changing his substitution patterns depending on the flow of the game sometimes and recognizing matchup problems during the game. Also, needs to rest some of our players more.

Yeah, because LeBron put Battier in the starting lineup when Bosh went down. You know, the lineup that won us a title.

Please, even LeBron gives Spo credit for adjustments he made to the team. Give the coach his due respect. Not an inch more or an inch less.

You gotta love how this board changed from "LeBron lost us the finals" to "LeBron won it all for us". Basketball is a team game where coaching actually matters a lot. A talented team is the foundation for success, but a good coach gets you to the glory land. Let Popovich and VDN switch teams and I'll promise you Pops will burn the Spurs because as great as Parker, Ginobili and Duncan are, it's the system that they're so sucessfully playing under. In my opinion, the Clips were one of the most talented squads in the league, but watching them play as a neutral fan of the game made your eyes burn. If you want coaches who get more credit than they deserve based on the talent they coach, start with the VDN's or Mark Jackson's in this league.

Too soon.

One thing I'm hoping for is that the players start to actually listen to Spo more now that he has earned himself some cred...no more hero ball hijacking of the offense.

Actually, it seemed as if things changed after game 3 of the Indiana series. It wasn't necessarily the defensive adjustments we did, such as limiting Hibbert's touches by having JA front him very well. Or the switch to have Battier cover West. It was the offensive adjustments that had me scratching my head. Bron & Wade were doing back door baseline cuts & the offense was looking different. After game 4, both Wade & Bron were both repeatedly crediting Spo & staff for finding ways to give them the ball in comfort spots. It helped that both players played out of their minds the rest of the series, but I think it was the offensive adjustments that helped Wade get out of his funk, & it kinda felt as if it came from beyond Spo.......but as the next person responded (sorry, couldn't remember ur username without going back), it doesn't matter if he got help from someone other than his assistants. We have Riley (my favorite basketball figure & the reason why I'm a Heat fan to begin with), a coaching asset that no other team has as a team president. Spo's his protege, of course he's gonna give him tips & advice. You don't think the Van Gundy family didn't offer advice & suggestions to each other, between JVG, SVG & their dad. Spo should still get credit for incorporating it into his offense & when to call upon it, if in fact it wasn't his adjustment in the first place.

Per WT
Erik Spoelstra wants to make sure history doesn't repeat itself.

"If we learned one thing from the 2006 title, it was that you need to continue to reinvent yourself and improve as a basketball team," Spoelstra said. "That year we brought the exact the same team back, we thought it would be the same path and same journey. It never is.

"It's always going to be different. And we ended up losing the first round and we were swept in four games. Another year later, we only won 15 games and we were the worst team in basketball and that's how fragile this game can be."

Miami signed Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis to add depth and three-point shooting to a rotation that includes Shane Battier, Mike Miller and James Jones.

I was just thinking about this today before I even read this.

The collapse of the 2006 team should be the inspiration behind this year's title defense. I hope our team doesn't fall into that trap of thinking it's gonna be easy from here on out.

Thankfully we still have a couple of players left over from that debacle, whoa re powerful voices in the lockeroom. Plus having a staff that has gone through that will help. Many of these players did feel the pain in 2011, which will also help in doing everything to avoid it.

He's done something Gregg Popovich, a Hall of Famer coach, has never done.

Lead a team to back-to-back Finals.

Robert Horry is better than MJ though.
