CM Punk Turns Heel!

Post#1 » by NBADraft2003 » Tue Jul 24, 2012 3:16 am

On the 1000th episode of Raw at the end Big Show interfered in the WWE Championship match by beating onn John Cena. Punk stood watching then turnt his back as he was leaving The Rock came out to stop Show and the hits him with the spinebuster and during his attempt of te People's Elbow Punk clotheslined him and hit him with the GTS.

Not a fan of it honestly.

I mean yeah, good, he gets to face Rock, I'm sure their feud will be entertaining, but the WWE is terrible at booking heels correctly for the most part. My prediction is Punk holds the title until the Rumble or loses it and gets it back by the Rumble and then Rock goes over at the Rumble and we get Rock-Cena II at WrestleMania 29. Meanwhile, Punk's booking will return to how it was before the worked shoot last year.

you got that opposite, they're great at booking heels. it's the faces that are meh

when they turn heel, that's normally when their talent on the mic can really shine

Im not sure how I feel about it. Is it me or is there really no good Faces? I mean Cena is only over with half the crowd. . . And he is what? one of 2 - 3 big name Face guys? While there are heels like Punk, Bryan, Del Rio, Jericho, Big Show etc. etc. There is no real balance in the WWE. Not enough guys that can get over as a face.

The WWE never makes heels look strong, at least not the main eventers. When was the last time the WWE had a heel have a dominant world title reign like CM Punk and Sheamus are having. JBL? Heel main eventers are a joke nowadays. Daniel Bryan is a jobber to the stars, Jericho is a jobber to the stars, Del Rio never wins, Big Show never wins the big matches, the heel main eventers in the WWE are booked poorly.

Ok now to comment on the CM Punk heel turn. It sucks and blows. Really? CM Punk has been more over with the fans than any other WWE star this past year and providing some of the best matches and feuds during that time . All without any sign of the fans wearying of it. On the other side we've had Cena who has almost become a parody of himself. So who do they make turn heel? :banghead: :banghead: . I think Cena has pictures of one or more of the McMahons in a compromising position

Well, clearly this just re-enforces that Cena has the clout to say he's not turning. What else was there to do other than turn Punk heel. Hopefully he gets back to where he was last summer now though as a heel as opposed to the face that catches on.

It'll be great when he goes up against loved faces, The Rock, Austin (maybe, reach), and Daniel Bryan (not a reach, when he turns they'll revamp that rivalry.) But its gonna be really tough when he faces cena. Cena will get booed and punk will be cheered heavily.

There’s still a discussion to be had about the way they’re booked though. Ultimately, WWE is a babyface company. Always has been, always will be. The goal is to build up a heel and have the face conquer him. It’s a strategy they’ve used from Hogan to Cena.

Over the past year, they’ve booked heels pretty strong. Big Show, Mark Henry and Daniel Bryan have all been booking strong leading up to pay per views.

For reference, here’s Raw and SD!’s win-loss record in 2012.

www.wrestlingforum.com/general-wwe/6058 ... cords.html

There have also been several times that the heel has had the upper hand in an encounter on Raw or SD! Big Show, Bryan, Del Rio and Jericho have all had multiple instances where they look strong. Contrast that with a guy like Punk who always never got the upper hand (check out his W-L Record) on Raw and SD!, but eventually won out in the end. That’s kind of just how the WWE works. If it’s not a formula you like, I’d suggest not watching again, because you’re going to see a lot more of it.

This is what I hope comes from the Punk turn. I hope he comes out and says I tried to change the company a year ago. While changes have taken place, we're still stuck with the same Cena and everyone continues on as is. We've got a non full time wrestler coming back and he automatically guaranteed a title shot at the Rumble. I've been fighting and clawing to win the title and keeping it and ain't nobody coming out and taking this from me.

Henry wasn't even a full-time main eventer, only main eventing because of the lack of talent on Smackdown. And as soon as his world title reign was over, Henry became a main event jobber aka jobber to the face stars.

It makes no sense to me. Punk is the one guy who is able to get over as a face right now and then they turn him heel? The WWE has tons of heels but not many guys who can be a solid face. To me Punk was the one guy in the entire WWE who should not have turned heel. And a feud with The Rock does not need him as a heel to work.

This was a big mistake IMO.

Punk’s place in the company is as a heel. He’s done a heck of a job as a babyface for a year, but he’s most effective when he’s pissed off, and doesn’t care if he pisses you off to tell you about it. Their constant use of Big Show in main event situations makes it clear that what they need is a mega-heel. Even at his best, heel Punk wasn’t wrestling at the top of the card. He posed no threat to Cena. This version, after a year of gaining the fan’s support, is definitely on another level.

I absolutely know what you’re saying; they do need more faces. I just think Punk is better served as a heel. And I disagree that Punk-Rock works just as well as a babyface match. Especially if they give Punk a lot of momentum as a heel.

Heel Punk is so much better than Face Punk. This is awesome.

True but during his time as champion he was potrayed as dominant and if not for injury would likely have had a longer title reign. It was his injury, which WWE could have worked around IMO,that ended his time as a dominant heel

To me Punk had a chance to be that kind of face that can act like a heel. Like Stone Cold or The Rock. The kind that are popular not because they are squeaky clean like Cena.

To me this pisses away a lot of what Punk has done to gain his popularity over the last year or so. You don't have to turn the guy heel in order for him to speak his mind IMO.

This was done to make sure he Punk gets more boos than the Rock when they face off, IMO.

If they were both good guys, the Rock would get booed out of the building.
