Bulls didn't want them because they aren't very good. Really average talent.

Jimmy Butler already projects to be a better player than Brewer next year. Brewer gives you nice hustle but you shouldn't guard him outside the paint and probably leads the league in missed dunks.
Does he really, or is that just the homer in you saying that? Honest question...

This move tells me that they're planning to bring back Iman Shumpert very slowly and wait until he's "110%" (100% and completely healthy) which is the smart move for the team. The Knicks are a solid veteran team with a veteran coach, if they don't make the 2nd round this year then this team needs to be blown up.

PG - J. Kidd/R. Felton
SG - R. Brewer/J.R. Smith
SF - C. Anthony/S. Novak
PF - A. Stoudemire/K. Thomas
C - T. Chandler/M. Camby

The Knicks have a squad and can be an extremely good defensive team even with Smith, 'Melo and Amar'e on the team.

Brewer is better than Fields in my opinion. Great move and value for the Knicks. They're really cashing in on playing in NY lately

Brewer is a GREAT add for the Knicks. He'll really help to pick up the perimeter defense while Shumpert is out, and if they're both healthy, the Knicks can run a great defensive lineup featuring the two of them and Chandler.

It also helps that this keeps Smith coming off the bench.

As a Knicks fan, I couldn't agree more

Made one of the riskier moves in the offseason
Full training camp for Stat/Melo
Going into the season fully healthy besides Shumpert[but Brewer is there to take his role for now]
Got many vets for this team
In a "win now" mode

If this team loses in the first round again it's over in terms of the Carmelo/Amar'e experiment

Somebody mentioned Brewer and Sefolosha being very similar, pretty good comparison. How is Brewers passing?

Totally agreed. Who said that the Knicks were having a bad summer? They've upgraded their defense, and got rid of a major distraction.

Sounds good to me....

Brewer is a good passer. Not as good of a defender as Sefo but a superior offensive player in almost every way.

Already an above average defender and good at drawing fouls, so yes. And his jumper isn't broken.

Also, Sefolosha is not really that similar because he can hit a spot up 3 at a decent clip.

Bottom line is the Bulls are not "all in" the way new york is this year. If they kept him he would take minutes away from Butler and that would stint Jimmy's growth.

Saying Jimmy Butler will be a better player this year is a bit of a reach, but its not an insane thought. And this is coming from someone who will miss Brewer more than any of the other lost bench mob players (he wasnt the best, just my favorite).

Both teams win, Bulls get to develop a player they are high on and the knicks get a discount at the 2 for a year.

Wow the Knicks managed to save an underwhelming off-season. Good pick up fellas.

Casketje wrote:Really? They waived him? LOL that's even funnier. Sure, he doesn't have an offensive game but he's an above average defender. If it's for salary reasons I think there are other, shall we say more suitable players on that roster to amnesty.

Butler is replacing his minutes as well as Marco. There is no need for him.

I didn't realize people were so high on Brewer, better than Tony Allen? Better than Sefalosha?

Brewer is complete player, obviously limited, but complete. He plays both sides of that ball, a magician on the bass line and a solid postition defender. If he hits an open jumper, be grateful. I'd take him easily over Allen. But after 2 years of Brewer, I still miss Thabo on my team.

Actually the Knicks had a really solid defensive squad last year, and by solid, I mean elite. This year, if Shump comes back even 80%, its going to be 90s Knicks all over again on defense..

Not really. The league as a whole sucked on offense last year.
