Dempster Traded to Braves

Cubs receive SP Randall Delgado plus others.

Delgado is a very nice prospect...top 100 level...was actually rated higher than Rizzo on a couple lists. Good return for a 2 month rental type player.

Trade is waiting on Dempster's approval. Delgado is a way better return than I expected, so hopefully it's done tomorrow.

Rosenthal tweets that the delay could be because Atlanta is demanding an extension before giving up Delgado, and Demp refuses to sign one.

6:20pm: Jon Heyman of CBS Sports writes that Dempster to the Braves now has a 50-50 chance of happening.

^that last one was 13 minutes ago and i don't know how legitimate the source is. the user has 33k followers so he must have some sort of respect or value in sports news. i'll wait to get excited.

Braves fan here. Word in Atlanta is what Posey says above. Braves wont give up Delgado unless they know they have Dempster extended a couple of years. If the deal goes through, you guys will like Delgado. Very promising young pitcher. He will be an inexpensive middle of the rotation pitcher for you and you will be happy. I just hope for Atlanta's sake that Dempster's game stays at the level he has pitched this season.

i don't know if Dempster will do that. not that he doesn't like Atlanta but i'd think he'd rather test the market during the offseason. i'd be really bummed if Dempster was using his NTC liberally when he knows where the Cubs are at right now and if the Cubs are trying to send him to a winning ball club.

MLBTradeRumors is saying that Dempster is putting off the Atlanta trade as he wants to go to the Dodgers. Looks like this one is a no go.

Dempster was so beloved before this...but the fans are turning on him now. And I can't say I blame them.

The Dodgers know Dempster badly wants to go there. The Cubs have no leverage. This sucks.

Think Dempster to the Dodgers also kills the only team that would've given 2 elite prospects for Garza. Don't want to turn on Demp, but disappointed.
