Sweet trade for them. Eovaldi isn't that great.

Ya I didn't see that one coming for sure. Hopefully for my fantasy team's sake, Hanley is reinvigorated to be getting out of Miami :)

Wow, good for the dodgers. Hanley and Kemp will be a good duo. Hopefully this helps me out with games Kershaw is pitching lol.

This one is a shocker. I'll have to look at the guys Miami is getting. I'd be upset if they gave up less for Hanley than we did for J.A. Happ-enstance.

TOR committing to 15 and 16 mil in 2013 and 2014 for Hanley would've been an awful fit, teams with a limited budget can't afford to throw that money around on a flier. Much better fit for a Dodgers type team that's shi**ing money

When Hanley is Hanley, he's a great player. When he's the pudgy son-of-a-bitch that has been turning out for that last year-and-a-half, he's worth far less. Good buy-low for the Dodgers, but he'll have to improve to be good value for that contract.

I didn't imply we should've traded for Hanley. I'm not sure how you inferred that much from my post. We don't need him. Plus he'd be a waste, as you said. What I want(ed) to know is what the trade market looks like now with all these last-week-before-deadline deals, for pitchers and position players. And, yes, I'm going to compare these deals, with some context, to the 10-player trade we made Friday.

Wow the Dodgers traded absolutely nothing to get him. Surprised this was the best offer.

Eovaldi has good stuff, but this would've been the equivalent to Drabek going the other way - so in that regards it was a dump, or shows you how eager the Marlins were to get rid of Hanley and his antics.

He was never a fit here - the suggested rumours of him playing third and moving Lawrie to left field was equally as awful seeing Lawrie is a good defender at that position and Hanley is not and really only wanted to play shortstop where he's equally as bad.

Did the Dodgers eat the entirety of that contract?... Because if that's all the Marlins got for Hanley, that leads me to believe LAD took on most, if not all, of that contract.

my guess is that the dodgers would be taking most of the contract, otherwise they're would have been more pieces to the deal to the marlins.

theres no way the jays are touching that contract.

dodgers are paying for the whole contract and gave up their number 2 prospect the system (according to mike wilner)...our problem is not the offense but pitching.

It's still possible that the Dodgers flip Hanley + Cash for better prospects then they gave up.

^^ why would they do that? they are in a playoff hunt, prospects isn't their main priority now. juan uribe was their 3b before, hanley will be there full-time 3b after gordan comes back.

Add on the fact they're competing with Anaheim for audience.

However if they plan on playing Hanley at third, then this trade won't help them much. It's probably in their best interest to play him at shortstop, and trade Dee Gordon for a third baseman or continue playing Hairston at third.
