If #Dodgers can't complete deal for Dempster, they have Zack Greinke and Josh Johnson on their list, as well, sources say.

Why do I fear Melvin will try and make a deal centered around Dee Gordon (the SS version of Gomez)?

Gordon, Lee and Alex Castellanos for Grienke and Aramis wouldn't be bad

Dee Gordon blows. The more maddening thing is the casual fanbase will think he's good because he's a "prototypical leadoff guy."

He'll be the next Gooden.

Tigers have no need for Greinke.

Except the fact that Scherzer, Porcello and Fister have all been meh this season, the Tigers definitely don't have a need for Greinke.

Fister and especially Scherzer are fine. Porcello kind of sucks but he's young and it's not worth the package it would take to get Greinke to them.

Verlander/Sanchez/Scherzer/Fister/Porcello is a fine rotation and since Porcello will likely be pushed to the bullpen in the playoffs, he's not really a concern.

Porcello's numbers are inflated too from a couple of bad starts, otherwise he's been great for a number 5 pitcher with 10 quality starts

I wrote a blog about Greinke last night.... Brewers must deal him and Melvin must pull another rabbit out of his hat! If you're interested, check out my thoughts. Thanks!
Milwaukee needs to let the 'Big Dog' bark once more and retire his #13!!

If the Brewers are looking for a SS prospect, Adeiny Hechavarria is who you want.

Indications are that the Brewers will want top pitching prospect Julio Teheran and at least one other highly-regarded prospect in exchange for Greinke, who is set for a big payday on the free agent market this winter.

The Braves are willing to provide the five-year contract and $20-plus million annual salary that Greinke will be seeking. But the package they would be willing to provide the Brewers will be based on their confidence that Greinke would not simply be a two-month rental.

From the Haudricourt note a few weeks ago about Profar being their target to now this, I'm glad that it appears we're going after big time talent.

A. Ramirez could be gone too. A's, our someone looking for a good power 3B. Shoot maybe even the Yankees since A. Rod is out for a while with a broken hand.

Where do others think K. Rod will go?

If we can get Daniel Straily straight up for A Ram, I would do it. A's have plenty of young good pitchers and Straily is 7-6 2.52 132.1IP with 171 KO between AA and AAA

Ken:

Source says that teams most interested in #Brewers' Greinke are #Rangers, #Angels, #Braves, #WhiteSox.

Source continues: #Nationals did not scout #Brewers' Greinke last night; appear on periphery at best. #WhiteSox want Greinke badly.

I don't think I can come up with a WS package I like.

It was mentioned that they would trade Floyd to someone for their prospects and then turn those around to the Brewers

From ESPN - Involving the Dodgers

Thinking outside the box here: how about a change-of-scenery blockbuster with the Milwaukee Brewers involving Rickie Weeks?

He's owed a lot of money on his contract and has been a disappointment this season, but the Dodgers have the cash flow surplus and the young pitching that the Brewers may covet.

The problem I would have with trading Weeks now is we would definitely be selling low.

As mentioned by Jim Bowden, Jean Segura and Garrett Richards for Grienke wouldn't be a bad package

Per Stark, it seems the Josh Johnson trade talk can cool down.

But here's our guess on what team Josh Johnson will be pitching for a week from now:

The Miami Marlins.

An official of one club that spoke with the Marlins' brass told the Daily Rumble on Wednesday that he would estimate the odds Johnson stays in Miami at "95 percent."

This, that official said, is not Wayne Huizenga's Marlins. And what's transpiring now is not a fire sale. It's a statement, mostly, that the Marlins of Hanley Ramirez and his friends had proven they couldn't win and wouldn't win. So they're looking for a whole new recipe. But they'll move Johnson only for a monster return.

An executive of another club reports the Marlins say they will trade Johnson only for a package centered around a young, star-caliber player who isn't arbitration-eligible. So who's that? Mike Trout? Stephen Strasburg? Chris Sale?

Good news for the Brewers.

Rosenthal mentioned the Blue Jays as the 3rd team. Floyd would go to Toronto for prospect(s) that could land them Greinke. All was Rosenthal's idea though, nothing source related.
