if you are in love with stats
just go

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jameer_ne ... stats.html
he is regressing each year as he gets older...

If you dont love stats
just watch Meer play XD

so whats else to say...?

Meer lover will stay Meer lover and Meer hater (becuase I guess you calssfied me as one)will keep hatin...

especially after this deal he got...
we choose him
ahead of players like DJ Augustin,Aaron Brooks,Darren Collison (who could be had for peanuts)Felton(maybe not good example as he got fat but still if he gets in shape he should be ok) ...or Harris...(expiring)

we can debate if any of them is better then Meer ...but they are not much worse...
they are younger and some of them at 1/3 of the Meer price :D
...or with expiring contract
all near Meer level skillset

You are saying Turk and Duhon is crap but Meer is good XD give me a break...

Jameer has been an amazing member and teammate for the Orlando Magic. He hasn't been a player we have regretted having. At least the smart people think that. He had led teambuilding camps every summer to help out and has been a positive influence all around. I would LOVE for us to be good enough and have him as our 6th man. He would be an amazing spark off the bench and against others backups. So I am not saying he should be the starter.

He has been a phenomenal team-mate, he's taken on leadership responsibilities beyond his abilities on the court, and he is a good player, but at the end of the day, he's not worth $8.6m a year. But as I've said previously, I would rather overpay Jameer Nelson given his attitude and his love of the Magic than overpay some random free agent.

Im starting to like the idea of keeping him and re evaluating as the deadline approaches. Fans in Orlando will never be happy. Had he traded him by now they'd complain that he didn't try hard enough to keep howard, if he keeps him thel complain that he didnt trade him.

Yeesh never thought I'd see a GM destroy a team as bad as Otis did. All the lack of talent, big contracts, no draft picks....it's an ugly situation.

Next off-season Duhon and Turk only have semi-guaranteed contracts, so that will help, if D12 changes his mind again.

According to the Denton link above - "If the Magic can’t clear any existing salary off their books, they will have approximately $18.6 million to spend on free agents next summer"

That's a MAX, no?

Thats without Howard, once you resign him, all money is gone,

people have to realize even with a buyout of Turk and Duhon the money that is owed still counts on the books, so Turks 6 mil and Duhons 1.5 counts toward cap

add Nelsons 8.6, big baby's 6.4, J rich 6.2, Q rich 2.8, and A Nich 1.4 you get 25.4 mil, then add Turks and Duhons remaining salary you get 32.9, Cap is at 58 Mil leaves a little over 25 mil, Howard has a 20.5 mil cap hold. It leaves about 4.5 mil to sign someone

So if we keep him in order to go the cap route the Magic must move contracts

People get mad at Dwight for severely crippling our ability to get any real value for him. He is screwing this team with his "Brooklyn or bust" attitude, not by requesting a trade. If Dwight had said "trade me a contender" instead we would be disappointed anyways but at least we would have a lot of options and a better chance at getting good value from him.

Thanks for the info -- so then overpaying Jameer's 2 to 3 a year doesn't in of itself prevent us from signing a Max contract?

If he was demanding a trade to anywhere, not specifically bk, he would still get hate, just not as much

Well Jameer isn't by far the best point guard. Heck you can argue top 15 at his position. I didn't see any names that would score higher on the list then him that is actually a sure fire upgrade. In fact once he got his offer it seemed like the rest of the PG "settled in" at cheaper prices.

I like how you say you don't want to start a Jameer war but then continue to start a Jameer war.

First of all, to put Jameer on the level of Turk and Duhon is flat out wrong, and you are blind if you truly think that. For one, Turk is vastly overpaid and truly plays poorly. He rarely has a good game. He rarely is a positive factor, he's just there. Jameer is slightly overpaid. Yes, it looks like he got way more than market value. But when we're talking about value to a team, he probably deserves around the 5.5-6.5 million range anyways, so that's a 2 million difference. Hedo's probably making 7-8 million more than his role and value on the team. To put Jameer on the same level as Turk, and in doing so, you should be considering Jameer's role on the team, and his impact on games, and his pay and compare it to Turk who has more serverely negative impacts on all of those facets, is simply wrong.

Duhon gets the ball past half court, and he hit 3's a higher percentage this past year than years before, that's it. He can't run the offense for ****. He's pretty pointless. Jameer doesn't come anywhere near Duhon in a negative aspect. It's like you have the CP3s, Rondo's, D-Wills, then you have the 2nd tier of Westbrook, Irving, Parkers, and then you have the "suck" tier if you really believe Duhon and Jameer belong in the same category.

I like how you berate people thinking he's an All-Star. First of, no one's saying Jameer's an All-Star. They're just giving you crap for saying he sucks. Like I said, you seem to think there's All-Stars, and then there's suck. Because from what you're saying, if we think he doesn't suck, we must think he's an All-Star, huh?

And no crap his numbers are somewhat regressing, he's probably at the tail-end of his prime. I'd say plateaued rather than regressed, but whatever. But that's the reason Hennigan did not lock him in for a longer contract. It's friggin 2 guaranteed years.

I am a Jameer fan. He's been a good representative of the Magic ever since he arrived. Maybe you call that emotional, but if you do, you really lose ground to criticize players when they create offcourt distractions like Dwight, Melo, and LeBron have.

Jameer is a great guy to come off the bench and way overpaid. He's an NBA starting caliber PG, but you better have a damn good team around him if you want to win the Championship. Like the Heat have in Lebron, Wade and Bosh.

Yeah Jameer's contract is really gonna bite us in the ass. His contract was as pointless as Richardson's. Maybe even worse. Same reason too "we can't find anyone better". Actually in both cases we probably could easily
