How the hell can you compare Jameer's contract to Richardson's?

First off, we have a better SG than Richardson on roster in J.J. You don't like Jameer? Our alternative on roster was Duhon.

Second, Jameer's contract is half the length of Richardson's contract.

Third, Jameer is better than Richardson.

So you have this and you think Jameer's contract could be WORSE than Richardson's??? Do you guys have a supply bank of irrational and empty Jameer criticisms stashed somewhere?

Why is everyone freaking out about Jameer's contract?? it's not like he just got a 5 year MAX deal. He got paid 5 million for his production and the rest for loyalty/leadership...he and BBD should be our captains this season regardless if Howard stays or goes. People saying we should have signed all these other PGs, last time i checked we had no cap space...It is only a two year contract basically so get over it.

Because of the situation. When we signed Richardson at the time we were still trying to compete. Also the consensus around the league was that J-rich was far better than JJ, and just was having trouble finding his shot. What are we re-signing Nelson for? Duhon doesn't have to start well that's great but who cares? If were going to rebuild that's what we want.

Meer still has fans outside of Magic ownership?

If this is the status quo going into next season I'll predict 48 wins. Howard will play at a superstar level, Ayon at a borderline all star level in limited minutes, Redick and Nelson at a solid starter level, JRich at a quality rotation player level, and the rookies, Duhon, and Baby at a below average level.

No one is really saying that, except for you.

People are saying that he's good for us (in a leadership role). Others are saying that overpaying him is partly because it's a mutual appreciation/respect.

Everyone is entitled to his own opinions.

Very true.

It's just that some people (not directly it solely at you) state their opinions as if it were fact, and then bash players/FO based on that (and lack of facts).

It would appear that Henny's pitch to Howard is to not to focus on this off-season/next year, but the following off-season. It would be build something lasting and not the way we did previously with Otis, swapping pieces in/out season after season.

Pretty sure you're getting more emo than me about this. If you can't have a simple basketball conversation based on facts and resist temptation to exaggerate what you read and say, and not want to get arguments in return, then maybe a basketball discussion board is not a place you want to be.

Sham, Hoopshype and Storytellers still have TBD.

It's just Hoopsworld at the moment reporting a salary.

Nelson/FA
JJ/JRich/Liggins
Hedo/Clark/Q
BBD/Nicholson/Harper
Howard/Ayon/O'Quinn

add a PG to backup Jameer and that team still wins 50 games. We actually have front court depth.

The situation was pretty much the same as this year. Dwight had already made his trade demand. I remember wondering why JRich was kept and Big Baby was brought in with a longer contract than Bass. And I don't care about consensus around the league. It was pretty obvious to Magic fans who pay attention that Jrich is not a big step up from J.J.

And I guess if you want to put the worst possible team on the court, then there's no point to the rest of this conversation.

My guess is that BBD & JRich moves was for the Fegan/D12 tandem.

So if we trade Howard and rebuild, why does it matter? And if we keep Howard who says it is Hennigan's plan to sign Ellis or Iggy or Josh Smith next summer? That might be our plan but we have no idea what his plan is. So i will hold judgment. I agree that this year is probably a lost year. But next year if Howard walks and going into 2014 JJ will be gone, Hedo/Duhon will have expired and Jameer will be an expiring contract. So in the summer of '14 these are the contracts on the books...

JRich - $6.6 mill
BBD - $6.6 mill
Nicholson - $1.6 mill
Jameer - ?

And all 4 are expiring contracts at that point.
Plenty of cap space to throw at big FAs in Summer of '14
Hennigan can completely start over from scratch. Maybe that is his plan if he doesnt deal with HOU now.

Alex Kennedy: Jameer Nelson got paid. He'll make $8.6 mil in 12-13, $8.6 mil in 13-14, $8 mil in 14-15. Last year is only partially guaranteed, but still. Twitter

Better hope the rumors of Jameer's contract aren't true then. Cause I don't see how we have a lot of cap flexibility next offseason if we can't dump Hedo's contract on someone without trading Dwight.
