Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLII Off-Season Edition)

Post#402 » by MagicTownBaller » Wed Jul 25, 2012 11:03 pm

My friend texted me this about the Dwight Howard meeting,

Rob Hennigan: "Hello! We're here to meet with Dwight............. WAIT!!!"
Otis Smith: "*mumble mumble* I didn't notice you without *mumble mumble*. Come on in."
Dwight Howard: "Yo, Otis. GO CLEAN MY ****ING BATHROOM. I'M NOT PAYING YOU TO ANSWER THE DOOR. Oh, hello Rob! GET OUT!...... No wait, stay!!!! Otis, go get Rob a drink!!"

Obviously, I cleaned it up a bit (Too much texting language for my liking).
Not changing this Sig until the Orlando Magic win a championship (Technically Started 1-30-08)

I thought this for a long time; however, now I think if Howard hits the open market and I'm Pat Riley, I meet with D12, tell him people didn't think LeBron had the mental toughness to win a Championship and they're saying that about you (Howard) now. Riley will tell him if he verbally commits, Riles will amnesty Bosh and just retire the LO'B trophy. We can't project who will have cap space because Dwight the free-agent instantly changes everyone's landscape.

Rudolph said earlier today that Alex Martins screwed up the Ellis deal. Ridley probably going to say that his source in Milwaukee told them something about Martins.

I'm just not buying Rudolph on that. His sources are in Dwight's camp, and they are doing whatever is possible to smear the Magic. Maybe it's true. There's no way to know for sure, but we really didn't have anything that GS would have been looking for.

i remember there being a lot of talk about a potential 3-way near the deadline that died, and then became a MIL/GSW swap.

we might have had pieces Milwaukee wanted - and we may have been in the mix to take on big deals like SJax and Biedrins to make it happen? but Martins may not have wanted to commit to a deal like that if Dwight hadn't even opted in. then, by the time he had, the Warriors and Bucks had completed their deal.

maybe there's still talks between MIL and us? unless they really value BBD, JJ, JRich and or Turk, i don't see what we'd have that they could value over Monta? unless... they don't value Monta all that high?

What reason does Dwight have to believe this?

He's proven stupid enough to believe the FO twice already, I'm sure they think they can get him to sign up again.

Props to Rudolph and Kennedy for getting the scoop on the Henny/D12 meeting taking place today.

There's no harm in asking D12 one last time to stay. But I always thought it was a terrible idea to do so without making any significant roster upgrades. Just makes no sense.

That's what I'm saying.

What have we done other than let Ryan go and sign Jameer to a contract that's bigger than he is?

On the other end - source close to Howard said he’s not “feeling it (offer) right now.”

I imagine “extremely good” would mean “extremely convincing.”

No one imo. He's supposedly associated with Rant Sports, and I've followed some of his tweets and they just seem baseless. Take whatever he says lightly.

Must not be "extremely convincing" if Dwight isn't "feeling it."

C'mon people at least get your fanfiction right.

"Kupchak did, however, shed some light on the reasons why Bynum might want to lock in an extension rather than playing out the season for a longer, bigger new contract. Kupchak mentioned the “risks” vs. the “bird in hand.”

Kupchak said after he had two back surgeries as a player that he recalls telling his agent to get a deal done so there was security. Bynum, 24, has had numerous issues with his knees but no major ones last season, when he became an All-Star for the first time."

So Kupchak is predicting Bynums Knees will go out?
