AA is overrated
Yes hes built a very strong farm system.
Yes he was able to unload some bad contracts.
Yes hes made some good trades.
But at the end of the day hes yet to put together a good team while being the GM.
He better step up this offseason and make some things happen or this thing is going to get ugly fast.

This thread is an emotional reaction to one game and its conclusion is also untrue. It's something I'd expect to see on the Raptors forum really.

Overrated ? He's manged to have rebuilding seasons and yet have team records at or around 0.500. No one said this was the year we made the playoffs. This team is still rebuilding and should be ready in a few years.

Not really. Ive been underwhelmed by his offseason and spoke on it.
He didnt aquire one established pitcher (heck he really hasnt even aquired a single established pitcher in his entire tenure). Morrow was a project when aquired and JA Happ is awful.
He signed Cordero which was a bad signing.
He had Thames start in LF over Snider.
He's rushed Gose for whatever reason.
He made a trade with Houston that didnt bring us back a single good player.
AA has done a good job with massively improving the farm and put us in a better situation salary wise but his teams havent been that good. We should have been seeing a major step forward by this point and even when the team was healthy we were sporting a similar record to what we currently have.
AA is a good GM but hes nowhere close to this godlike figure that many make him out to be.

Yes, AA is atrocious. He should have realized his ace would turn to sh*t, 3/5ths of the rest of his rotation would get injured, and the 5th guy would regress from his rookie season. He should totally have had a second major league rotation ready to go.

Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

If this team is still rebuilding we might as well trade Bautista.

Why because you don't agree?
The OP is claiming AA is "Overrated" and if you've read a lot of the know it all Jays fans
all over the net you'd know they've treated AA like a baseball god.

Or he could have aquired a proven pitcher in the offseason and not go into the season with 2 established pitchers and a bunch of question marks.
Noone said hes atrocious but hes certainly overrated.

Texas lost 21-8 to the Mariners this year, true story. Rangers should get a new GM.

I hated the lack of movement in the offseason and disagreed with many of the moves that you've cited there. That still doesn't change the fact that the thread is an emotional reaction to one game and that its conclusion is also untrue.

Why would we need to do that? Progression of young players is also part of rebuilding.

This is some Raptors board-level trolling right here.

Re: AA is overrated
The only bad thing I could say about AA is that I wish he would spend more money. Whether it's Rogers not willing to spend or AA not wanting it/asking for it. But besides that I think most people have the up most faith in the man to lead us back to glory.

Re: AA is overrated
I feel like AA is the good poker player who picks what tables to play on very carefully (ie. sits with the fish) and plays a very tight-aggressive game, picking off the idiots here and there.
But at some point you gotta sit at the big table and play some big pots.
Hanley Ramirez, for instance, would have made a lot of sense for us. I don't care where he plays on the diamond. AA talks about star talent this, star talent that, blah blah. Here's a guy that was a proven star. He's struggling now but aren't the odds of him returning to stardom like 500 times greater than picking a couple highschoolers every draft and hoping?
Now if he doesn't have the money, like absolutely does not have the money, fine.

Re: AA is overrated
As a very casual Jays observer, I see the Jays failing to improve resulting in another year of mediocrity. They'll finish around .500 again as they have every year in recent memory. Explain to me why AA is a good GM. What is he doing to change this trend?
Again, casual fan here.
