And wiretap:

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/22 ... h_Hennigan

Orlando Magic General Manager Rob Hennigan met with the franchise’s disenchanted superstar Dwight Howard today in Los Angeles, according to sources.

Hennigan traveled to Los Angeles to have a face-to-face discussion with Howard with the hopes of persuading him to back off of his trade request and allow the organization more time to build a championship contender. Hennigan, however, was unsuccessful in his sales pitch as Howard reiterated his desire to leave Orlando as soon as possible, according to sources.

Hennigan’s sale pitch had a heavy focus on the two men developing a relationship that would be valuable to the Magic moving forward. He expressed a sincere interest in getting to know the six-time All-Star and working with him to improve the team. Howard, however, was expecting an outline of how the team planned to improve and get back to a championship-contending level, something he didn’t receive during the hour-long meeting, according to sources.

Howard was staunch in his stance and again made it clear to Hennigan that he has no desire to return to Orlando. He told the 30-year-old general manager that he would “never sign another contract with the Magic,” according to sources.

...but finding no acceptable deal. Magic waiting so long after draft and start of free agency to get serious on Howard deals has hurt offers

Okay, that made me chuckle.
On a serious note, if the reports are true, it's time to trade the prick. Even if it's not what our front office wants to do, we've got to do it. Highest bidder wins.

Dwight told Hennigan "he would never sign another contract with Orlando." That has some finality to it, doesn't it?

I lost my faith in Rob if he went to talk to D12 without a plan.

Um, if that's what Hennigan seriously discussed with Dwight as opposed to a detailed plan on improving the team then WOW. We deserve to lose him.

This doesn't surprise me. Seriously, when was the last time we had a plan?

What plan could there possibly other than "go after some free agents in 2013"? Dwight is not going to accept sucking next year, he wants a plan to contend with the team we have which is impossible. We are at least two years away from contending even if we keep Dwight.

Well whats out there? We cant really take back bynum without any guarantees and the rockets offer isnt going to be anything special now that the rookies (besides lamb) signed their deals. Maybe if lamb waits and we can trade howard for a package around Lamb/dm/toronto pick and fillers, that might be ok, but we are really screwed at thsi point

Jameer's contract people... his contract alone has killed any chance of signing a free agent next summer. There is no plan.
