Agreed, thought Mack was solid last season, especially for a rookie learning the position.... Mack is a solid 3rd pg...,

Price and Mack ...have the potential to continue to improve.

Well, at least one reason they were better w/ Mack on the floor is that they were playing the other team's second unit. Still, it's a valid point, and I agree that Mack deserves another year and is more than adequate as the 3d pg; he does have "the potential to ...improve."

But, super, what would make you think A.J. Price has the potential to improve? He's in his 4th year and has gotten fewer minutes, and been less productive in his minutes, each year in the league?

Price was in free fall out of the NBA, and we plucked him from the air. Ridiculous.

Price might be the PG equivalent of Yi for us this-year, but I take him at his word that he is going to seize this opportunity.

I like what the Knicks & Minny did, they went outside the country rather than sign someone like Price. Pablo might be a vet-minimum signing. Alexey's deal is around $3 mil per-year.

What does that mean? Does a "big shot" put a bigger 2 or 3 points on the board? If you make a "big shot" in the 4th quarter... well what if you'd made one you missed instead in the first quarter? How is that different?

Sorry payit..I was being sarcastic.

Yeah, most of the IND board said that he was a professional and did pretty well for what he was asked to do. Some even suggested that he could do better in a bigger role. The kid is still young...I'm willing to reserve judgment on him until I see him play.

Well, there's a novel approach...waiting until Price actually suits up and plays for the Zards before passing judgment on whether or not he was a good pickup.

You are so right, Zards -- there is just no way to know whether Price is a good player or a bad player until "suits up and plays" for the Wizards.

And, I mean, it could go the other way too. I mean, you know, suppose we acquired Wade and people were excited. I mean wouldn't you be right to come in and say 'hey don't excited. How do we know he's any good? Lets wait until he "actually suits up and plays" for us.'

Of course you would, because there is just no way to know whether a guy is good or not... unless, you know, you looked at what he'd done in his several seasons as a pro. Hey, that's an idea -- that might tell you something! Glad you thought of that.

Well Shved for one was actually a very good player in Europe this past year. He can lay claim to 19.1 points per 40 on a 62% TS this past year in the Euroleague. Satoransky managed 11.1 points on a 51% TS in the ACB, which is a lesser (though still good) level of competition to boot. Also Shved was signed as a free agent, whereas Satoransky was drafted, so the team wasn't forgoing other, outwardly more intriguing players in order to sign him. (And just generally Shved was good and Satoransky blew; Shved more than doubled up on Tomas in PER, 20.3 to 10.0).

Wood beat-me on Shved. I can only add that Pablo Prigioni at age 35, has quite a bit of experience under his belt. Creative, outside-the-box thinking for filling roles by those orgs.

A 35 year old who will backup both Felton and Kidd? Don't see him getting much PT. I'll take my chances with the much younger AJ Price.

Unless AJ Price was signed as a long-term solution (god help us if that's the case), then what does it matter how old they are? I'd rather have 38 year old Steve Nash or a 39 year old Jason Kidd at backup than a 25 year old AJ Price.

So this 35 year old Pablo is as good as HOFers Nash and Kidd. Shame on EG for not signing him. :D

Yes, thank you, very good. I'm not actually very broken up about Prigioni because he seems to have reached the "very limited veteran who knows those limitations" stage of his career (as evidenced by scoring 10.1 points per 40 on a 72.2 2p% in the Euroleague last year) and that was before making adjustments for level of play. Nevertheless "as good as a hall of famer" is:

a: Not at all what anyone said.
b: Not exactly an accurate description of Jason Kidd at present (though some statistical measures have some very strange things to say about him).

Anyway the point was more that by exploring more creative avenues of player acquisition it may have been possible for the front office to have turned up a more promising addition. Just because the Knicks can't manage to doesn't mean it's unreasonable to think it could have been done.

Based on his limited and erratic opportunities, his age (25), his reported professionalism & ethic, his 40% 3pt at UConn. Plus some guys just need a change to kick start their career. Plus looking at his numbers, it wouldn't take too much to improve on that.

I say now is an appropriate time for a bump. Price is amazingly dreadful. There are many things that bother me about Price, but the most glaring thing is that he's seemingly incapable of setting up the offense. How many times do the Wizards end up jacking up a totally awkward contested long jumper as the shot clock expires while he's 'running the offense'.

Don't get me wrong, John Wall can't run the offense either, but at least he has some redeeming qualities. PG has got to be addressed this off-season.
