I applaud Ratner, and at the time I remember being baffled at fans criticising his move, when it was so obviously necessary. But then I'm a Spurs fan, and our franchise was one of those who forced Ratner to pony up the max for Kidd, which in turn made it much harder for him to pony up an (undeserved max contract) to K-Mart.

Kidd was getting max either way. Even if you werent out there as an option...he was getting paid. He was at the time...I would say the 6th best player in the game...and that is where I rank him for his era.

Shaq
KG
TD
Kobe
Dirk
Kidd

Oh look...Orlando will probably wait until the trade deadline lol...
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/81934 ... howard-now

I told Laker and Magic fans on the Magic forum a few days ago that this would be the best course of action regardless of whether the Magic want to deal with the Nets or not. The more serious suitors you have, the higher the asking price and with the Nets out, the Magic are definitely missing a serious suitor.

By waiting until the deadline they get to:
1) See if Bynum remains healthy again

2) See if Brook can stay healthy throughout the season

3) Ensure that any team that trades them a draft pick is lottery-bound before making a trade.

If the Cavs sent the Magic their pick but then acquire Bynum from LA, the Cavs pick would most likely be at the end of the lottery.

4) Let Dwight get healthy again.

He wasn't going to play at the beginning of the season for any team any way, so trading for him while his value is low doesn't mean anything for the Magic. But trading Dwight when he's healthy gives the Magic more leverage in trades.

Dwight Howard is sticking to his guns? If LeBron's saga was the "Decision," that fool Howard's is the "Indecision."

D12 is just hoping all of his efforts pay off and lands him in his destination of choice; playing with Dirk.

Dwight is sticking to his GUNS...won't resign extension

Post#29 » by N Ireland Nets » Thu Jul 26, 2012 7:05 pm

Stephen A Smith just said on 1050 that Howard hopes to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets in January.

Said he opted in last year because he was promised by the Magic that they would trade him to the Nets this off-season.

He feels betrayed because they didn’t keep that promise.

His far and away first choice to be in Brooklyn, but he’ll settle for the Lakers or Dallas.

Says he probably won’t be able to play until January anyway; so he hopes the Magic wait until the Nets can trade Lopez.

So fingers crossed Bynum holds firm and the Magic don't deal early. Until the Lakers beat our Jan offer, the Magic can't justify trading Howard.

Right. Our 1/15 offer is the base line for Orlando. They are looking to beat that offer as that it is currently the strongest LEGIT offer on the table despite these last two weeks of LA and Houston nonsense.

I will say though...if a western team can come close...wouldnt be surprised to see them take less to get him out of conference.

Well, as I have outlined in other posts...Bynum is a huge part of this. Hopefully he does not give anyone an indication he would re-sign there next summer if dealt...and doesnt take an extension.
