Top 5 bench in the league
i really think this bench has major potential. if adelman uses it right
ridnour, barea, williams, buddinger, steisma, lee, cunningham, roy(if healthy). each guy could easily have a role on this team. i love the depth of this team. what other teams have this kind of DEPTH other than boston, clippers, heat??

Roy is the likely starter, at least right away.

Past Wade-Allen-James-Bosh-Battier who does the Heat have? Celtics have some young guys now on their bench but I wouldn't call them very deep. Fab Melo is a ways from contributing and I don't know who the back-up SF is.
Thunder, Nuggets, Pacers are teams I'd say have depth.

Bench depth means diddly squat in the playoffs, but it should help us get a higher seed...

The Clippers bench outplayed their starters, especially in the playoffs.

bench depth only means a lot of the bench players can keep up their level of play or increase it during the playoffs. if not, then it actually hurts your team.
look at the spurs in 2012. regular season, the bench was phenomenal, but when they played okc, a lot of the role players started sucking, which screwed up chemistry, rotations, and offensive balance.
on the other hand you have the mavs from 2011, whose bench depth helped them tremendously match-up wise.

Spurs killed it in the playoffs until they hit the thunder though. I mean, I think their bench was definitely a strong point regardless of their poor play in the Thunders penultimate series.

Houston - I'm being super serial
Nuggets - practically everybody on their bench
Bulls - Hinrich Belinelli Gibson
Thunder - Harden Collison Jones Maynor
Clips - Odom Crawford Hill
Spurs - Too many guys to count
Jazz - Kanter Favors Burks Bell
Heat - Lewis Haslem Allen Miller
Celtics - Bradley Sullinger Terry
Kings -Robinson Hayes Brooks Salmons
Mavs - Wright Brand Beaubois
I can't say that our bench won't be among the best unless Williams or Shved really have a breakout year. Don't get me wrong, The team improved a lot by replacing some of the young prospects with more established veterans.
My dream is that we get Kevin Martin for the MLE next season

yeah definitely. but relying on so many players only increases the chances that one of them fails/chokes, especially in the playoffs. but if you have a group of bench players who don't struggle when it gets tougher, then a deep bench is a bonus in the playoffs.

Re: Top 5 bench in the league
I think we have a top 10 bench. If Williams can grow with limited minutes then we have the ability to become one of the best in the NBA. Also, Shved and Roy need to provide meaningful minutes. That allows Budinger to be more a 20MPG guy, which he can certainly do without problems.
Other deep, versatile rosters
LAC (Paul/Butler/Hill/Griffin/Jordan)- Bledsoe, Crawford, Billups and Odom are all awesome bench players. Clips just need another big to have a rotation with no holes.
SPURS (Parker/Green/Leonard/Duncan/Splitter) - Ginobli is a stud. SJax, Diaw, Neal, Bonner, Blair, Anderson all have a role and make up league's deepest team by far. Legitimately 12 deep.
KNICKS (Felton/Shumpert/Melo/Amare/Chandler) - Second unit of Kidd, JR Smith, Ronnie Brewer, Novak and Camby is very strong. Knicks suddenly look very deep and versatile.
NUGGETS (Lawson, Afflalo, Gallinari, Faried, McGee) - Reserves Mosgov, Chandler, Andre Miller, Harrington and Brewer all can contribute.
CELTICS (Rondo, Bradley, Pierce, Bass, KG) - Lee, Green, Sullinger, and Terry are all good. Very deep roster in Boston.

With JR Smith, Melo, and Amare the Knicks don't need anymore scoring. They need defense and leadership, which these guys provide.

Kidd is a defensive and offensive liability - I don't know how he managed to rob the Knicks although they did sign Felton & Kidd before making a decision on Lin
