Snider makes this team a whole lot better. They may not need to acquire a LF this offseason after all.

+900OPS => good
11Ks in 23ABS => bad

I had really hoped Snider had made a meaningful improvement on his K:BB ratio during his stint in AAA. The early returns are not good.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Nice work from the pen. Gotta have confidence with Lyon/Oliver/Janssen. Too bad we're without Frasor for a month.

I wonder how much Lyon will want as a FA.

How bout that Lyon picks up the W! I would guess Lyon would get around 2-3M? I am thinking he's a rental, but who knows :dontknow:

With his approach, Snider is always going to be the type of guy that will K quite a bit. He's shown that much over both his minor and major league career and there was no reason to think that would suddenly change. What's important is that the power is there and that he shows himself to be capable against lefties rather than a platoon player (which he hasn't done in the past, but this good start has promisingly come against three lefty starters). Still would like to see a few more walks thrown in this year, though.

The thing is hes not striking out on three or 4 pitches. He is actually working the count and seeing alot of pitches before striking out. The curveball still giving him some trouble though

If the Jays plan on not spending money every off-season, then developing their own talent becomes mandatory. They need to play Snider everyday, for better or worse. He has a good glove and 30 HR potential with the bat. Even if he K's 150 times a year, that's the type of player he is. As long as the power is there and he can mix in some walks he can compensate for the strike outs.

Hopefully the team is committed to having Snider in LF next season (assuming he has a good second half to this season). That can cross off one major hole in the off-season checklist and can let AA focus primarily on 2B and the rotation.

Looks like we need a new series thread.

laffey pitched like laffey should, good thing our offense showed up...love the lineup, get some starters and polish pen and its contention time
